Just had three more friends get out of seeing this. All said they liked it, lowest score was 8/10. Main complaint was it was to long and they tried to do too much.

saw it. was mediocre at best. hollywood just finds new ways of making bad superhero movies. i think the biggest problem right now is that there just aren't that many talented young directors in hollywood. there are no more stanley kubrick's or anyone even remotely that talented. the new directors just fall in love with CGI and making shit explode, but there is absolutely no soul in movies anymore.

So your major criticism is that the movie has no "soul"?
exactly. it's stale and you feel nothing for the characters in the movie because it has about as much depth as a day time soap opera. i mean, i'm not saying it needs to be a cinematic classic, but it's superman for fuck's sake. at least in the original superman movie there was the scene where lois lane dies and you feel something. this movie had not one single memorable scene. it's all special effects and zero substance. not that difficult to understand.

People going into this expecting Citizen Kane need to step back. The movie was satisfying. It's Superman. The only criticism from anyone I know of who enjoyed the movie was the lack of "kneel before Zod" statement. Otherwise, maybe 15 minutes too long but a totally rocking experience and what we should've gotten in 2006 with Superman: Returns. Looking forward to the sequel.

I just got back from seeing it. Awesome movie. Good acting, insanely cool action scenes, INCREDIBLE cinematography.

It does follows the modern style of film where things tend to be roller-coaster-ish, however, there was still plenty of depth and some very emotional moments. Henry Cavill did an incredible job. There a little bit of humor but overall it was a pretty serious movie. Just don't go into it expecting a typical light hearted summer action flick.

Can't wait for a sequel.

The action was great, as expected, although the pacing seemed off. I think the thing that made me enjoy The Avengers much more than this was the fact that The Avengers had great action pretty evenly spaced throughout the movie. Man of Steel's action seemed to be heavily back loaded in comparison.

Overall though I really enjoyed it. I think the grittier, more serious tone would fit into Nolan's Batman universe very easily and I'm praying to God this does well enough to start building towards the justice league.

if they plain on doing a JL lets hope they remake Green lantern. And they don't rush JL. Like Iron Man they needed superman to be this awesome so that they can now start to develop the character's for JL.

Just saw it, two and a half hours went by like a speeding bullet. The action sequences were more powerful then a locomotive.

With everything going on and the sheer entertainment of this movie I can't say I really watched it objectively. I was having to much fun to find anything wrong with it. I'm seeing it next Tuesday as well.

Pretty damn good.

I thought this movie was good and for the first time, I didnt see Mr. Shannon as "that guy from Boardwalk Empire". I really loved how they did the speed in this movie, especially when that Ursa was fucking shit up. Non was not used enough and there was just too much wrecking of buildings. They kept throwing each other away and then doing a flying punch. I wanted to see more than just that.

Now dont get me wrong, I can have complaints about movies and still feel as though it was one of the best movies I have seen, even though this one isnt. I still like Superman 2 better than this one.

Aaaaand I'm done with super hero movies. Dark Knight Returns, Spider-Man, Iron Man 3, and Man of Steel. You've burned me too many times Hollywood. Not even the Dark Knight and Avengers can keep this genre going anymore.

If you think Man of Steel was decent go watch All-Star Superman. That shit will blow your mind.

This was just pure fucking entertainment from start to finish. I was a little nervous going in because I was tired (don't like late night movies), but I came out pretty damn pumped. Going to go see it again after the shiny has worn off so that I can enjoy it without so many obnoxious people in the theater with me though. I tend to skip opening night of big movies because of shitty parents who don't keep their kids in check. Last night proved that I need to keep doing that heh. I was too excited to see this to wait a few more weeks though. I think most of you are going to really enjoy yourselves. If you wanted as Flipmode put it "a non pussy Superman movie" then you should have a great time.

Henry Cavill did a great job as Superman. I like that he made the character his own instead of trying to channel Reeve. I'm looking forward to seeing more from him since it sounds like they already gave the sequel a green light.

I'll be seeing it again as well, probably at a very off-peak time. Last night we had half the ghetto sitting behind us saying shit like "Da fuck, I aint pay no 15 dollas ta see dis muh fucker find hisself yo. Where da action at?" Thankfully "da action" showed up in the second half of the movie and they quieted down a bit.
