Maybe its just me, but in all these pictures this supes looks kinda downsy. I mean yeah dudes built, but myabe its just always his brow in a furrow that makes him look more like bizarro than supes.

didnt they just reboot this like 2-3 years ago

reminds me of when marvel kept trying to reboot hulk and it kept sucking over and over

there should be a mandatory grace period between failed reboots

Superman Returns wasn't a reboot. It was a continuation of some of the Reeves Superman stuff mostly after Superman 2.

they should just disregard the gay ass costume imo and just have the dude be dressed like a normal person incognito

there is no way to make anything closely related to the original seem palatable in this day and age

even without the undies it still looks retarded

With an opinion this dumb, I'm certain you are a Hollywood executive or something. Maybe a game developer. Do you work for EA?

Superman Returns was 7 years ago. That is a pretty decent break. That movie was also pretty awful so it would be nice to see someone else take a stab at the character. We won't really know until it releases, but from just the trailer I would say this will be a far better movie then Superman Returns. That is not exactly hard to do though heh.

Yeah to be fair I don't look forward to any Superman related media outside of video games. I just feel like the IP has failed to be even somewhat entertaining the last couple visits so it deserves a long rest.

Pre-crisis Superman could move planets with ease, fly through time, couldn't be hurt (even Kryptonite and magic didn't do much), could fly millions of miles in seconds, and had hundreds of powers, including Super Telepathy (watch out Professor X) and Super Basket Weaving. As the writers said back then, the only Super power he didn't have was if they forgot to give it to him.

Post Crisis, he couldn't lift 100 tons and could only fly in outer space as long as he could hold his breath. DC figured out that no one wanted to read about a character that couldn't die or even be hurt. Growing up, as a kid, I never sat there wondering if Superman was going to die. Anyway, readers actually started buying his books again. But over the years, they've moved him up slowly to the point that once again, in DC 52, he can move planets with ease. Lame.
Exactly. I loved the immediate post crisis Superman. The whole "his cells react to yellow sunlight by generating a forcefield around him and through him" thing was imo a brilliant plot device which they should have stuck to drastically. It would have inherently limited him to Yellow sun environments, and he actually had limits, like breath and running out of power if he fought too long in darkness without sunlight. Power creep is always an issue, I think they ought to strictly limit that shit.

I'm really digging the mature/hardened look this new guy brings to Superman. Routh's looked like a rookie who had never been in a fight before. This Superman looks like he's already seen his share of battles.

It's all just opinion obviously, but this is exactly the reason I hated post-Crisis Superman. Even if they toned down every other hero/villain, he'd just be another tough guy with those powers. Nothing to make him stand out from the crowd of a hundred other just like him. Now I agree that all that super telepathy shit and such was ridiculous and needed to be taken away, but neutering him was the wrong approach (for me). The stuff about no one wanting to see a character that can't die just means they didn't write him well enough. Wolverine literally cannot fucking die either (I'm sure technically he can, but he's come back from total disintegration pretty much, all he needs is one molecule), yet for some reason no one (besides me it seems) ever got tired of Wolverine.

Now granted you are kind of stuck in a corner with Superman because not only is he indestructible, he's also the ultimate Boy Scout, so you can't have him go all Wolverine on people every issue. But one of the most praised Superman stories right now is that animated movie where he looks like he is killing all those dudes on the moon and such (I forget the name). Sure he doesn't really, but it was awesome to see, wasn't it? So come up with better stories instead of coming up with retarded explanations for his powers that totally change him from the original (that eventually were ignored anyway).

Part of it might be my age as well; I can't stand to think of them fucking with his origin like that after years of knowing him the other way. It really rustled my jimmies, as you can tell.

Superman is a bad superhero and they should stop making shit based on him.
