My biggest issue - as Chaos mentioned how things evolve - is it evolves to the point of him wanting to open up the relationship completely. I don't know if I could deal with him being with other women. He's always said he has absolutely no interest though, so dunno.

I mean not to say it can't work but ... usually you have to be kind of a sociopath for it to NEVER end up affecting your relationship. Of course you can have 'just sex' but invariably the 'just sex' ends up as something more.

I don't see it as macho. It's called being happy with what you have and not wanting to fuck up your life. Extra woman or man in my bedroom isn't going to happen. More than likely if they are playing the third for you it isn't their first rodeo doing that. I don't care how careful you are, doing shit like this is only going to add problems, drama and risk to your life. People that roam around fucking other people's wives or winding up as the awkward third once in awhile in your bed aren't the kind of people I want in my inner circle of life. I also wouldn't want to involve myself in people's relationships as a third. Talk about a shallow existence. Take a look at the non staged videos and ask yourself do you really want to fuck these people? Most of these chicks were getting passed over by drunks at the bar and have to resort to craigslist.

I don't see how we can all sit around and pretend to be experts. I have no idea what works for other people. I've heard plenty of anecdotal evidence of people having great marriages with open frameworks, or some similar thing.

But then you're not who I was referencing, I'm talking to the dudes who would openly invite a female into the bedroom but freak the fuck out about the thought of someone nailing their wife. As I said, I'd never do a threesome/open relationship with a long term because its bound to cause complications when feelings get involved or you're churning and burning one night stands and catching all sorts of things.
