Tell us about your gay best friend and how you even hug him sometimes to prove us wrong.
OK. One of my best friends from HS discovered he was gay in college. We're still close friends. Practically nothing changed because it doesn't really matter who your friend bangs.
Both he and I probably called stuff gay or fag on the regular in HS. I use the terms much, much less now, and definitely not around my friend out of respect. However, I don't think every person who uses them as slang occasionally is a crazed homophobic crusader. Old habits die hard, and my generation used the shit out of those terms as slang. Now if someone called my friend a faggot to his face, using it as a slur, thems fightin' words.
Wish ya the best but that reaction didnt sound like a positive sign to me, it sounded like a tactic to get you off her back for an indefinite amount of time.
Maybe. Every resolution starts somewhere, and immediately assuming she's just buying time is pretty pessimistic.
However, since it seems he was in a pretty deep rut in life due to the situation, I'd recommend not only addressing the relationship issues, but working on his own well-being and morale as well. Exercise regularly, get back to hobbies you have neglected, get back in touch with friends if you've been a shut-in, etc. Whatever activities help you stay happy and fit (within the bounds of reason), start doing them. A fit, happier, more confident you is both in a better place AND is more attractive to the wife. And should the shit hit the fan and she IS just buying some time, you're in a better place to get through a divorce and find a better situation after.
Consider it, Arinath.
EDIT: I immediately regret replying to Aldarion.
