I am so tired of the bullshit that single income cant support a family anymore. My dad supported so many kids on a single income, you suburban fucks would think I was shitting you if I named numbers and AGI. I'm half the man my dad is, but I've supported 3 and and a wife for about a decade.

I suspect it was no different in 1950, except that people who prioritized trinkets over family were appropriately shamed.

Two incomes is a decision, not something inevitable.
Wakandan please. There was a bit more nuance than "Single income can't support family" here.

That went from zero to retard real quick. 'Let me bust out the anecdotal example of my dad in the 19fucking50s to invalidate the concept of people struggling to live right today on one income.'' Legitimately impressive.
Sorry that u r poor and bitter.

It was a decision for us. It's not that way for everyone. You can nitpick it, of course. You can point out the couple has too high a mortgage or has other expenses that could be scaled back. Or that neither of them wants to give up their income or professional status.

But some people just want access to a decent public school, and that alone can cost a premium even for a modest house and taxes. I don't see any new construction where I'm at under $450,000. And that's for a home depot quality townhouse. Detached homes with some land are all "starting in the "upper 700s" range.

Id say its possible outside of liberal shitholes like LA, SF, NYC etc. where the cola isnt fucking you in the ass. You arent gonna be living high on the hog but I cant see why you couldnt support a family of 3-4 on a 60-70k salary in a place like Phoenix. And of course once the kids are in school no reason why your wife cant have a job.

I don't think there are a lot of places with low costs of living and good public schools. It doesn't work that way in the northeast, anyway.

Pretty much the same exact thing in south Florida. Even the homes in the 600 - 700s have small lots.

Honestly, I would love to get the fuck out of here, but it's hard with both my wife's and my immediate family here. Most importantly, our jobs are here. She's a nurse, so she could easily work anywhere, but I'm a buyer in pretty specific industry and I love my job/company. That said, we could probably afford to raise our family of 4 on just my income, but it would severely hamper our lifestyle, the money I'm putting away for the kids' college and my retirement, etc. It would be a struggle, no doubt. So while it was a decision for us, it was a pretty easy one, really. Only time will tell if it was the right one.

Funny how banned people are unbanned and they quickly revert back to their banned behavior.

Funny might not be the right word.

Amod Amod why was this faggot unbanned?

I absolutely wanted to be the opposite of my dad, and I turned out exactly like him. 100% identical copy.

Same here, then one day I'm using the broom to try and get the cat out from behind the fridge, yelling it before I stopped everything, got quiet and muttered "son of a bitch", dropped the broom and walked away.

Feels like there's some context missing here...

My father was easily excitable and would routinely yell at the cat to get out from behind things while using brooms to shoo them. Lol

I guess that's a whole lot better than drinking every night and beating the shit out of your kids.

You know, the usual "I want to be the opposite of my dad" behaviour.

Sometimes when I yell at my kids (when they deserve it, mind you) I hear my dad yelling at my brother and I (who didn't ever really deserve it)
