What do you do after Story Mode is over the first time? I was just running through the Heroic Mode story and doing a terminal whenever it popped up under the legendary quest, but I got a Midtown quest today...that might have been the most fun I've had in this game. I kept getting more Legendary quests that I could do there and I breezed through 2-3 levels and even got a Unique out of it. My Thing is around 35 now and I couldn't fathom how people have all of these level 60s. Is that where a lot of you go or do you just hit cosmic terminals over and over and over again?
You basically do heroic and superheroic story modes if you want the bonus talent and stat points. Legendary quests is the best way to level, some people tend to farm the ones that are easy(you can reroll the quest for money), primarily the ones that you can quickly do with the terminals or midtown. Add that up with potions, bonus weekends, account bonus exp you can level pretty fast.

Not sure it's so much size of the community, but more it's make up combined with in general how easy the game(genre really) is. At this point most people just want to throw on their Hand of Doom/Kurse Gem and go full out dps since there's not much incentive to do otherwise. Cosmics to a degree can benefit from actually having a balanced build, and I always build some defense/health on all my characters as it does make a difference.

You're also right that most have no clue how stats actually work, or at least how to maximize their build via damage rating/crit/etc. There are a few regular posters that I've found to be good theorycrafters, though most seem to be barely playing anymore, at least until some new content arrives. Also didn't help when the person who actually came up with the most accurate dps formulas ended up getting a job with Gaz, though they did repost his threads on the Guides section.

Anyways at this point with the way they standardized most all powers via the tags system, it's usually pretty easy to figure out a decent build once you seen those same abilities across multiple heroes.
One of the big things I see is how overvalued crit damage rating is to the community, and how undervalued straight +damage is. The scaling on +damage is absurd. Brutal strike rating is not worth it on most heroes and brutal strike damage rating is straight up worthless. You simply cannot push your crit% high enough to make raising brut and brut damage ratings worthwhile on almost any hero.

They need more specialty stats, this games suffers even worse than vanilla D3 with stale, uninspired itemization. Uniques aren't unique at all, they just give you more +gooderer (in most cases). BUT, the game is fun and easy enough to gear up in that it isn't enough of a problem to stop people from playing.

The biggest problem is the huge disparity in base "attribute" stats (i.e. Fighting, Durability, Energy, etc). Some characters (Iron Man, Ms Marvel) get incredible amounts of those stats naturally while others (Daredevil, most of the cast) get shit in that regard. And those stats are really, really powerful. What hero you choose has way too much to do with how well you will survive/kill shit and item choices are a distant second as far as character power goes. I appreciate all the work they put into the level 52 reviews though, they at least see that problem and are trying to address it.

And you're right about gearing straight damage. The incentive to build to take damage is almost non existent since defensive stats scale like shit and are almost worthless.

Case in point: My Daredevil has 43%+ DR for all damage types and 41% dodge with 18.7k hp. He dies faster than my Storm who has 28% ish DR for all damage types and 18% dodge with 11k hp. I actually don't even know how that's possible (Both sustained and high damage one off skills hit Daredevil harder). Maybe a lot of the enemy damage is %life based?

They are planning to do a complete overhaul of the attribute bonuses. I'm surprised it hasn't been done yet, since they've been talking about it since before Asgard.

You do legendary quests till you hit 60.. It's the best xp in the game.
Really you can just do whatever if its your first time through. Make sure you clear all 3 story modes for the bonuses, do LQs when you can. Farm 20 terminals a day for 2 fortune cards and all that shit.

Just to extrapolate this.

Story mode is not even close to the best experience gain (in fact it's probably the worst). LQ's are the fastest way to level, even if you get some bad LQ's that take a lot of effort for the reward (each LQ has differing amounts of awarded exp and odin marks). LQ's also drop Odin Marks. Odin Marks are used to buy legendary slot items (which are arguably the best items in terms of power in the game, so they are very important) and also to bless all 4 of your artifact slots with some pretty good bonuses. Each legendary costs 300 Odin Marks, Blessings costs 100, so you are going to need to farm LQ's either way to get that stuff.

X-Def and Midtown are decent for grinding exp straight up during the levelling process and X-Def is the best spot in the game for finding gear.

When he says "Farm 20 terminals for fortune cards" what he means that there are special drops called Cube Shards that only drop once per day off the end bosses in each red and green terminal. There are 10 green terminals and 10 terminals meaning you can get a maximum of 20 Cube Shards per day. These shards are used to buy various things, including fortune card's that can drop costumes and experience/RIF/SIF boosts. Personally I would save 100 Cube Shards to buy the recipe for re-rolling cosmic items. It's very useful for re-rolling the stats on any cosmic rings you find (which only drop in cosmic terminals at level 60 and are fairly rare). It's also great for re-rolling the variable stats on cosmic medallions (I think, haven't tried that yet)

I am liking the Spider-Man changes so far. He doesn't do the damage of Wolverine but he is infinitely more fun to play.

Why do I buy G's if I have to go to their site to buy the character packs online with cash? How silly.
You should be able to get to the store by pressing "X". The packs show in game for me.

I just dropped $40 on this game to buys space and Iron Man. Brings my hero total to 4 now.

Non enhanced black spiderman for sale atm.

Anyone have a decent gambit build? Can't seem to find something that feels fun/fluid on him, but I like this character/voice work.

I'm not going to run 20 terminals/day, so would you all recommend the green or the red for the ones I do? I just ran a red to see the difference and it didn't seem to be worth the extra difficulty/time to complete. I got a couple extra purples, but didn't do exp calculations to see if there was a major difference there. Any thoughts on this?

Yeah, green for pure shards, but really once you get even halfway decent gear reds become a joke. So it's worth doing them just for the increased chance of drops imo.

Just running whatever Legendary missions they give me. The shards are just a bonus.

Eh, they're already pretty easy...I just use Pulverizing Fury when I get to the boss. It's mostly just annoying that I don't 1-2 hit the trash like normal. It's more about the time than the difficulty.

I've found the fastest way to level early is just xdef/midtown to 20. Then legendaries (reroll any time consuming ones). Rerolling legendaries does give you a lot of the waypoints needed to get story mode bonuses. One of the things that I haven't liked is having to run story content in each difficulty to get all the bonuses. Love these devs!:

Quest Rewards: Health,Spirit, and Skill Point - Marvel Heroes

Per doomsaw:

"Yes, the achievement system will reward you for completing the story in each difficulty once per account, but you won't be required to do it for every hero."

"We already know exactly who and when completed various story mode missions, so all of those should be retroactive."

Yeah I shoulda specified I meant at level 60, before that doing the Red terminals for LQs depends a lot on which one you do, and the character you are playing. Some like the Kurse term can be a major pain in the ass pre 60 on certain characters due to all the AE/Charges.

And the fact that the damage every single mob in that terminal does is severely overtuned. Especially those goddamn giants.

Yep, can already tell Dr. Strange is gonna be top tier, though not surprised since MichaelMayhem was his designer and he's been pretty money with his designs so far, especially Loki. In fact he looks to have layered damage potential, with Crimson Bands being another Arcane Binding/Chain Snare/etc, as well as a GTAoE that does damage over time. Then on top of that he can create 2 illusions of himself, as well go into Astral Form which I assume will be an aggro drop.
