There's some exciting news for Marvel fans today as Walt Disney Pictures has moved the release of Edgar Wright's Ant-Man from November 6, 2015 to July 31, 2015, a full four-months earlier.

The film, which is supposed to launch "Phase Three" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will follow Avengers: Age of Ultron's May 1, 2015 release.

kudos

IM2 comes out and they tell stark hes not worthy of t he avengers and they find thors hammer
Thor comes out and at the end they find the cosmic cube
Captain America Comes out and Fury recruits the captain post scenes to the Avengers

Heh heh

In a recent interview, Thor: The Dark World star Chris Hemsworth was asked whether he ever hears or cares about the bitter rivalry between Marvel and DC's cinematic universes, to which he bluntly replied, "We're just winning, aren't we? That's not really a rivalry."

i think the point is that the marvel universe franchise is just that. a franchise with a ton of clout. anytime you hear that marvel is making a movie (not fox or sony, but marvel studios) you get excited. when you hear that DC is making a movie... well unless it's batman everyone gets really worried and nervous. even then, dark knight returns was just... frick it was complicated. it really felt like nolan wanted to say a lot but already decided he was only doing one more movie in the DC universe and so he just crammed it all in.

no one in marvel is up all night trying to figure out how to cram 4 different stories into a 2 hour movie. they know that anything that they don't fit in will just be in the next movie. or tv show.

unless you're talking animated universe. in which case marvel is pretty much dead on arrival compared to dc, thanks to bruce timm. did i hear that he's left the animated division?

TRUE TRUE...

for Marvel, it's their "universe" they are planning films with overlaps, crossovers etc so that you see "iron man" in the hulk, you see capt america in iron man, etc.. they have -apparently- a decently cohesive plan on moving forward.

DC not so much.

and ya DC animated>marvel animated

I hope that whoever planned and got the studios to accept the marvel masterplan is very, very rich.

In truth, Marvel hasn't overlapped any studio films.

Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man & Ghost Rider (and all major sub-characters pertaining to them).

Fox owns the rights to X-Men, Wolverine, Fantastic Four, Daredevil & Elektra (and all major sub-characters pertaining to them).

New Line Cinema used to own the rights to Blade, but they have expired. Now Marvel owns them once more.

Lionsgate used to own the rights to Punisher, but they have also expired. Marvel has resumed ownership of them.

Marvel Studios, however, owns EVERYTHING else. The Avengers, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man... you name it. All Marvel Studios property. So they're easily able to merge all of these films together without ever stepping on the toes of other studios.
