As far as box office goes, Ant-Man 3 made $106M its first weekend (the same weekend) two years ago.

Ant-Man, when far less people had come back to movie theaters post-covid, with less inflation.

Off the top of my head, I would say Captain Falcon does $90 its first weekend, Thunderbolts $85 (but has better legs than Falcon), and Fantastic Four (as a period piece with no connection to any other MCU films, for a franchise that's had two lineups die already) barely squeaks by $50.

None of those will be profitable for Disney.

$180 mil to make? Sure, in an alternate universe. It's 2x that (350-375, that's as much as they are admitting, who knows how much it actually costs) thanks to repeated extensive reshoots. And then add $100+ mil for marketing. It has to make $900+ mil to be profitable.

The idiots in charge think every half assed marvel movie can make 1 billion and good ones 2 billion.

Not an "expert" (whatever that means these days) but doesn't it look the budget numbers are fudged? The original filming ended in June 2023.

And after they've done 2 rounds of reshoots, including getting back the bigname actors like Ford and the Breaking Bad guy.

$180M seem way too low for a Disney MCU film in 2025 given inflation etc

Well Mackey isn't a big draw and Ford is likely just telephoned in voice work. His character is all CGI. I bet he only has 5 minutes of screen time as himself.

It's not like it's a big name ensemble cast. So the actor budget is probably pretty light for your typical marvel film.

I didn't even know who the breaking bad guy is. You mean that black/cuban looking guy disney puts in everything? He's like a disney house actor or something.

I think the original version having a price tag of $180M is entirely plausible - given Falcon's lack of actual powers, it looks like a lot of thugs with guns, which as long as you can find a city willing to clear the streets for days / weeks isn't that expensive.

But add in the numerous rounds of reshoots and that number seems entirely preposterous.

As far as human Ford goes, we see him in numerous scenes - he probably has the second/third longest total screen time in this thing (depending on how much time New Falcon gets). But you could entirely redo the all-villain scenes / motivations without having Ford involved (since he Red Hulks out and gets sidelined, probably before the actual final villain fight).

Getting some prep done today for the upcoming work week, so I decided to put on a Marvel movie in the back ground that I have never seen, Wakanda Forever. 40 minutes in, what the actual fuck am I watching?

EDIT: Haha, just caught the young genius girl is named ReRe. Perfect!

looks like its another job for RDJ

i do find it funny how the world lost its mind over BP1, wakanda forever, yadda yadda but no one really gives a shit about BP2. When was the last time you heard a spanish person talking about the mexican Aquaman dude from it, it took me a minute to even remember Shuri was the new black panther... I think? I literally remember almost nothing from that movie.

This should be the new Black Panther, only good thing I remember about the first movie (Never seen the second)

This Captain Black movie costs at least 400 million, maybe half a billion with marketing. It needs to clear at least a billion just to break even. Ford is also going to play another Trump style character as president. Which more than half of America will just love. It's probably going to do 60-80 mil domestic and maybe 150 mil worldwide. Then collapse after that. These development hell movies always shit the bed.

WTF are you smoking?
Red Hulk maybe has 5 mins screen time, Thunderbolt Ross, I am sure, has a bit more...and besides the actor is paid for the movie not the amount of screen time they have. And you think Giancarlo Esposito is a Disney house actor?

That's their own fault. Mackie has been notorious for whining publicly about everything.

Disney/Iger just assumes everybody hates the USA. It's Why they do these race swaps to destroy American icons and then tell everyone they're bigots for complaining about it. Supposedly they spent all this money completely reshooting Captain Black because the first version was super anti white and "America bad" like the Captain Black D+ show was.
