Season 2 improved a ton from last season where I tapped out due to boredom. I think they did themselves no end of good by adding the Inhumans storyline because I don't really care for Shield on it's own and I wouldn't be at all interested in reading any of the comics but The Inhumans gives them a decent boost.

I think if the Suicide Squad movie does well there's a chance for Thunderbolts too so I doubt Gemma will replace the Karla Sofen version of Moonstone.

Thunderbolts, if it did happen, would be a very very long way off.

and if the Suicide Squad movie does well I'll be blown away. So far it's shaping up to be a Green Lantern level bomb.

Thunderbolts could be very plausible post Civil War, even as a plot device, hell the ultimate big bad Baron Zemo could be Ward.

I liked the interaction between coulson and cal. I didn't really notice it until the part where cal was pinned by the car, coulson said "I don't believe you really want to kill me" and he responded with "Let's test that hypothesis". It's not that the line itself is all that great, but the delivery was great (it's probably my favorite moment in the show so far). That got me thinking back and I realized they generally did have good interactions together, but it seemed to get better when he turned into hyde. I'm sure we'll see hyde again. After all, he isn't dead and they did give him the final ingredient he needed for his formula.

He is overacting like crazy, but it mostly falls on the right side of the stupid-entertaining frontier. That said, I enjoyed season 2, but I am mourning the almost total disappearance of comedy, especially with Skye.

The biggest question for me going forward is what they'll do with Skye.

She's now mostly in control of her powers which are considerable. It will be difficult to put the team at risk with Skye there, or have the rest of the team have meaningful impact when she can overpower most situation.

Their team has always put an emphasis on the surgical approach. Her powers still seem to be panic button level events. Electricity dude on the other hand can manage subtle.

Well Coulson mentioned starting a new team, so my guess is that most of the time there is violence she won't be there, and when there is she'll either be against other powered people or she won't use her powers because reasons.

Got a question for some of you comic book nerds. In the comics, does cal change back and forth between hyde a lot? When he's cal, do they ever write him so that cal is unaware of hyde? Some of the Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde stories are written that way, and I think that would be fun for next season. Cal can remain an ignorant vet, but every once in a while, Hyde comes out and hilarity ensues. Presumably Hyde would only show up to help Daisy, and so he'd be a good guy. It would be easy to explain that tahiti only took cal's memories because he was back to being cal when they did it.

Any precedent for something like that in the comics?

It's possible, but I know he's like a second or third tier villain, so it's likely that he's never gotten that much background exposition.

Didn't think about it before, but Emergency Awesome suggested Simmons might be inhuman because the object only really came to life around inhumans.

Uh, wouldn't that mean she's either dead or not Inhuman anymore considering that the object was created by the Kree to destroy Inhumans? Not saying Inhuman Simmons is impossible, just that I prefer the idea that it chose her as the anti-Inhuman harbinger.

She's a latent inhuman and not an activated one yet, so functionally she's just a human that is potentially alterable by Kree technology. May not be only one option.

Like a lot of things Charlie says, I don't believe that's true either, since I believe it activated at least once when just SHIELD was in the room. Sure, they could claim that one of the random guards or agents is an Inhuman, but we have no way of knowing that.

yeah i dont feel like going back and checking, i really dont need to because when hermione and fitz were talking about going on a date the obelisk was solid, it was only after he left the room did shit go down. his theory is that hermione is an inhuman and that thing activated because it sensed she was and it swallowed her up to take her to "somewhere" as a prisoner. dunno if i buy that, i think the more simplistic would be she will be tainted/changed/poisoned/brainwashed to kill inhumans when it spits her back out.

Not like she'd need much help in that regard. She's gone a bit off the reservation since Fitz suffered saving her. It looked like she was mellowing a bit until she tried to whack Ward.

It's pretty clear she will come out "powered". They spent half the season of her getting her panties wet wanting to kill off or imprison powered people. Just like every plot line in the series, they do a big " got you" moment, then finish the rest out with a plop sound and expect us to be excited. I think only one part of the show in the 2 seasons really was a " oh shit" moment.

what is meant by activate? to go from solid to gooey goo? that's happened on 2 occassions while they show us shots of SHIELD guards.
