Yeah, I hate when companies don't add additional padding to the back of the heel. Immediate no-go for me.Crown's just got delivered by DHL. A couple of weeks early, not bad on shipping. Only took 4 business days I think once they left England.
The light is a little bright in the picture b/c the grey isn't quite as pronounced in person. It is a very nice dark color and not near as light a gray as it looks. Tried to turn the brightness down in post to fix it but I don't really know how to do things like that.
They're definitely more narrow than the Koio, not sure I can wear these comfortably with regular no-show gym style socks. They're comfortable when on, will wear them tonight to see how they feel. Gues you can't really see the gum sole in this one picture.
Whatever you call the part around the back of the shoe on the Koio is 100% more comfortable. If you can see where the arrow is pointing, Koio includes this nice, padded wrap around that isn't present on the Crowns. There's a very stiff piece exposed in the back of the heel with a defined ridge (red arrow). We'll see if that ends up rubbing, not sure yet. I like the styling of both, although the Crowns are very different, more so than I expected just looking at pictures online.

Seems like such an easy thing, especially for the price of these vs. the Koio.Yeah, I hate when companies don't add additional padding to the back of the heel. Immediate no-go for me.
Design/intended use? They don’t like the look of the extra material or they figure you’re going to be wearing them with pants so might as well wear socks that are higher than no-show?Seems like such an easy thing, especially for the price of these vs. the Koio.
So I am sending the Crowns back. Talked with their CS and they said that their toe box is pretty shallow and a higher instep it is making the toe box feel more crowded. So while I may not have a wide foot a slightly wider shoe may help the comfort. They agreed to remake them for me slightly wider, I just have to pay to ship these back. Not bad CS, we’ll see how the new pair fit in 6 weeks.
I have several pairs of Bombas socks. They're fine. Not bad, but nothing special. I was gifted them so no clue on the cost, but I wouldn't pay a premium for them. I have probably between 100 and 150 pairs of socks of various types and brands, and Bombas don't stand out. In terms of fit and comfort, Sick Club are my favorite.
Yeah, sorry, Sock Club. Weird autocorrect. You mean "Sock Club" right? I need to spring clean my sock drawer and want to start making a list of things to try. I'll probably go back to a few pair of Feetures and Smartwool since that's what I've been gravitating towards each day more and more.
A fagtie?Hey is there a name for the style of neck tie that ends at a flat horizontal line as opposed to coming to a point?
LLM to the rescueHey is there a name for the style of neck tie that ends at a flat horizontal line as opposed to coming to a point?
While the most common necktie ends in a point, those with a flat, horizontal end are indeed a distinct style. Here's what I've found:
* "Flat-end ties" or "square-end ties" are the most commonly used terms.
* You'll also see them described as having a "horizontal" end.
* Especially with knitted ties, this style is common.
Therefore, when searching for this type of necktie, using terms like "flat end tie" or "square end tie" will yield the most accurate results.
