Hard to say how strict the timers will be and how hard it will be to raise your stats (and also how high they need to be to hit the checks). What I did with the three days was this:

Day 1 - daytime. You can get access to an optional dungeon by getting your wisdom to 2. Start by talking to the quest giver in the main square by the entrance to the city. He wants you to cook at the inn and tell him about it. Then head over to the cathedral and talk to the guy who sells herbs and he'll tell you he only sells to regulars. Buy 1 water and 1 bidou while you're there. Now back to where the igniter store is and look for a bench. Sit on it and spend time people watching for a wisdom increase.

Day 1 - night. Go to the inn and talk to the info seller. Buy the redgrass shop info from him. Now head back over by the cathedral and go to the herb seller again. This time he will sell you redgrass, so buy 1. Now back to the inn, talk to Fabienne and make redgrass roasted bidou (stick to the recipe when prompted).

Day 2. Turn in the quest to the guy in the square and you'll hit wisdom 2. Talk to the lady who runs the igniter shop and choose the wisdom 2 dialogue to get her to let you do her quest. This gives access to the optional dungeon Belega Corridor. I went there right away, after getting ready for it.

There's a few other things you can do that don't take time too. Like there's a quest from a guy right outside the inn; go buy the thing he wants and bring it back and you'll get a rusted accessory, which can be ID'ed at any shop for a +3 str/mag/agi/end/luck item. I save scummed that until I got +3 mag, since you have to run MC as mage in the dungeon if you want any hope of sustaining MP (when MP was high/full I swapped to Healer to rank it up to 10. You should also have Strohl be a warrior, since 2 wisdom also allows you access to purification at the church. Purifying the greatsword you got from the dragon hoard gets you by far the best weapon you can have at this point. Hulk should stay knight, since that's pretty much the only way you're going to be able to kill the boss of the dungeon.

Once you're done with the dungeon, that's it for day 2. Day 3 you can either go into the cathedral and get to the actual end of the demo, or else just leave a save in the morning and wait for release to decide how to proceed. Turning in the igniter lady's quest is an option too, as it grants access to the Merchant class (seems like something really low priority to work on though) but that requires spending time. You'll also likely have a dozen or so rusted weapons and about half a dozen accessories to ID. I didn't ID them all, just a few until I got a healer mace and mage ice staff. Rest of them are probably just vendor trash anyway, but I wasn't sure if unlocking a new class would allow them to ID into weapon types not available now. Accessories are all vendor trash at this point so do whatever you want there.

Worth noting that the cathedral will be completely trivial at this point, at least up to the point where the demo ends. It's probably fine though, since the goal in these games is always to complete the entire dungeon (or at least as far as it lets you, assuming it ends up being similar to P5), so better to grind in the harder dungeon and come back to the main story which seems to have less opportunity to grind because lots of it doesn't appear to respawn at all.

I've never played a Persona game, but I am familiar with its aesthetic/style/art direction/etc. This game seems to be going 1000% into that style, its a bit much.

Might be worth restarting the demo if you didn't kill the dragon in the mines, he has a purple 2h sword in a chest behind him. Mage for the human boss fight before the dragon and the dragon itself is really strong, both are weak to ice.

You can also grind in either the last demo story dungeon (there's a crystal that spits out skeletons non-stop) or in the side dungeon (run circuits to the end, leave at the cat, repeat).

Enjoyed the demo so far. Just got to the point where it informs you that you've got 3 Days to play with. So far it seems way more accessible than a Persona game. I bought and really tried to get in to P3, 4, and 5 but none of them really ever clicked. This could turn out the same way now that the whole calendar thing is actually in play, but at least the whole intro / prologue stuff hasn't turned me off. Archetypes seem very straightforward and less complex than matching personas. It just always felt like if I wasn't playing with a step-by-step guide then I was making some wrong move by talking to the wrong person or doing the wrong action at the wrong time, constantly, with everything in Persona. Otherwise they were enjoyable.

Really no idea what I'm doing with the MC or Archetypes in this yet. Just sitting on Seeker still with a few points banked and not sure where to spend them. I'll just wait on Vorph Vorph to tell me what to do once the full game is released. Story seems cool too. Not familiar with SMT at all though to compare anything.

We should retitle this thread to “The world of Metaphore according to @Vorph”. Rated R.

You pretty much need to set up MC as a mage, at least in the early game. Takes a little bit of getting used to the overworld AOE attack and you'll have to get good at hitting a couple times then dodging so that you don't get ambushed, but the MP regen you get from it is just too good. When your MP is full(ish), switch to Healer so that you can level it up to at least 10 ASAP for the quest.

Strohl is best to keep as a warrior because the purple sword from the dragon in the mines is the best weapon you'll have for quite a while, especially once upgraded at the church.

Hulk should stay knight because you need her pierce damage for the first side-quest dungeon boss.

Haven't done much past the demo end yet. Got a little time on it from NZ yesterday morning but too busy after that.

BTW if you're playing on PC, you're definitely going to want this: GitHub - Lyall/MetaphorFix: A fix for Metaphor: ReFantazio that adds ultrawide/narrower support and much more. . It fixes ultrawide, skips intros, changes the movement to actually be analogue instead of 8-directional when using a gamepad, can turn off the horrible looking blur while sprinting, etc.

I was going to grab that from GitHub but thought I read it would all be in the release day patch. I'll do that now. Just hit the catacombs today after reformatting the PC since my performance was ass and dropping to single digit frames (some background windows process kept getting stuck).

Doing your walkthrough for the alt dungeon as well. Looking forward to picking up the full release still.

Enjoyed the Persona games and enjoy this a lot more. Taking that game structure/formula and not having to be Japanese high school kids was a great idea. Even Asmongold is playing this on stream right now.

Yeah, don't get me wrong I loved P5 (my goat jrpg, p5r in particular) but this is that just a bit more interated and mature. The game takes a while to open up and get into its rhythm but when it does, it becomes every bit as magical to play through as the Persona games. I'm looking forward to every new story beat and bizarre monster.

Is there any way to get rid of the combat results screen every time after combat?

Don't sneak past the dragon like it tells you to. It's no harder than the boss you fought right before it.

Other than leveling up to the point where fights are decided in overworld, no.

Edit: Also, for people starting after the full game is out, you should do the cathedral (clear in one day, just like you would in Persona) before the side quest dungeon.

Haha you are awesome. I’m at the dragon and now I will destroy it instead of sneaking. 😀

50 gig for a demo? Are they putting the entire game on your drive or something? Surely that's not a good idea.

Was a little goofy. 50gb demo - saves carry over. Full game is 70gb (series x) download that - load up full version, choose to carry over the save, and then delete the demo. Play anywhere is awesome. Downloading it to PC as well.

I always like the combat systems in these games and hate literally everything else about them. Ugh. Calendar systems especially rustle my jibblies.
