You get used to it. Persona 5 and the series in general are just fantastic "chill" games to me.

1more and Baton Pass stroke my dopamine receptors in a way almost no other battle systems do.

I always like the combat systems in these games and hate literally everything else about them. Ugh. Calendar systems especially rustle my jibblies.

It isnt bad. At least not for now. When you finish the prologue and get to the next step you have like 9 days to do all the side stuff before the next step. Unlocking various things, gaining royal rep, etc. plenty of time. They did a good job balancing all that so far.

I love the fact that there is a reason to seek out all corners of a dungeon for loot. Some items actually mean something like purple armo/weapons/amulets - where with FF7 Rebirth everything you would find and explore was rubbish no one cared.

Its not the amount of time I have or feeling rushed or anything like that about calendar systems that I dislike in Atlus games. It's that you'll talk to someone and then you have to do something stupid because you talked to them, like make a sandwich and do laundry, and then another loading screen, and another loading screen, and... jesus just let me get back to the main game please. Why did I talk to this person and hit the option with the clock next to it....

Merchant class is ridiculous. You get 15*characterlevel reeve for every enemy you kill (or fight you start with a stun) on the overworld. It's fairly useless for actual fighting, but still a complete no-brainer to run on MC anytime you're plowing through trivial shit and don't need MP from the mage passive.

Wish there was a class that gained extra MAG, because that's fast becoming a major cockblock.

This abandoned tomb dungeon sucks with the mimics and the big floaty guys. I know the informant had a tip about tossing gold at the mimic with Merchant class but still they take way too many rounds to kill and the other big human type have a boat load of hp also.

Got some time to play it this weekend. Got to the first optional dungeon, level 9. Mobs there level 16, auto death if they got a turn off. So spent 4ish hours there in the first two floors just hitting them over and over (dodging back when their stagger bar went down instead of attacking) until they were oneshottable with knight+warrior AE strike. Exiting the front door respawns the entire dungeon.

When they were out of MP, ran back and forwards in the first two floors just killing the enemies that died from just using the mage attack. At level 15 I started going through the entire dungeon as the loop (quicker as entering the place from the cat at the end also respawns the dungeon) so get a full dungeon both up and down, and at level 16-17 I no longer had to widdle down the enemies, I could oneshot them when attacking.

At level 19 I did the boss. I assume you can do this for every dungeon, so shouldn't ever be a problem to do everything you can do in a dungeon the first time you enter one. Left with 30-40k gold and mag (would have had more mag, but got all classes for all characters, figured why not). I like that you don't need to swap classes as once you hit master, you get a 1k exp potion to be used for any class for every 1k exp you get on it, so no loss.

Some tips if you're past the point where you've left Grand Trad for the next part of the story:
All gauntlet runner stuff that might not be obvious...
1. Check the pantry every day for cooking items. Save scum for the gauntlet shroom drop if you really want to maximize it. Everything else you get can be bought; shrooms are only from the pantry. They're used in a recipe for food that gives a full heal to the whole party.

2. Check the fire at night for a bug.

3. Use the shitter on Idlesday (days that end in 0 or 5) for permanent +1 Luck on the MC.

I might just do this. Or start over when I get the full game today. If I don’t stagger goblins before fighting them I am easily getting demolished by a 3 pack.

This game gets better with every chapter... Easily my GOTY. 30+ hours in level 34 and through 3rd chapter now - I hope unlike P5 (og P5) the pacing continues as it's really in a great flow at the minute. This is as good as P5 so far, lets see if it can stick the middle->end.

Yeah, the level 16 goblin packs devastate you until around level 14. Then you can "survive" messing up and getting attacked by them. You do need sword from after the first dragon though, so make sure to get that. 4 hours there though and you'll end up with a lot of loot (that doesn't cost much at all to identify at a shop making the items worth more) and will probably be good to go for the next dungeon or two. And you'll be able to level up quite a few "personas" as if you keep on mage on main char, knight and warrior, they will max rank at around level 17ish. All characters will get a few ranks between 17-19, so when I exited the dungeon I had 10 1000exp pots saved up (takes 2 or 3 to get to rank 10+ so the healer quest is easily done). I also learned all classes I had available on all characters, and got another 9 500 exp pots from More as he gives you 3 for every 4th? class you learn.

If you start over, just do the cathedral before Belega Corridor. IIRC I was 18 at the end of the cathedral, which made BC completely trivial including the boss but the xp isn't completely awful until you hit 20 so you can still use it to grind efficiently by running to the end and having the cat port you out.

Alright so, this game is a little unlike persona games in that there aren't as many monsters to farm for exp if you get "stuck". I'm playing on Hard and i think I'm gonna have to turn it down simply because if a "correct" archetype isn't leveled yet it's kind of a pain in the ass to farm it up to a good point on Hard.

yeah there is a bit of "hey all these classes are cool", but you can get really stuck trying to level/test them. It's my only real complaint so far, other than it seems like it's a bit shorter than P5, which is good or bad I guess depending on your perspective.

Don't want to look up spoilers but is there a true ending or anything special you need to do to get a better ending like in Persona games?

Only bug I've run in to so far is that no one shows in Kreigante Castle during battle. Hulkinberg will show up during one of the attack animations but then disappear again.

Enjoyed the Persona games and enjoy this a lot more. Taking that game structure/formula and not having to be Japanese high school kids was a great idea. Even Asmongold is playing this on stream right now.

Dammit, I'm probably gonna have to play this aren't I?
