Yeah, it's dumb. He's not ready.

If they just wanted someone until Sucre came back, MLB is literally littered with guys that can hold down that role acceptably for a couple of weeks.

Gerrit Cole made his MLB debut tonight, pitching against Lincecum. Was pretty impressive. Not Strasburg/Harvey type performance, but pretty good. High 90's fastball with movement, and he seems to keep the ball low and isn't afraid to pitch to contact. Lot of grounders and fly balls. Plus he got 2 RBI batting. Little shaky on occasion, but plenty to make me hopeful.

I like.

Twins are already talking about bringing up Buxton from A ball, I doubt they will but the kid has been putting on a show down there.

Have theTwinsactually done the talking? Lots of media speculation but I didn't think it had any real backing to it.

Yeah, Gardy was talking about it and said he could see the move but for now are paying close attention to his progression and how much further his game can evolve.

I think it was more to pander to the press than anything. The kid is good though, out of something like 58 games he has hits in 56 or something like that and he's leading the league in multiple categories and is a hell of a fielder. He's a 5 tool player and he uses all those tools very well.

I don't think we'll see him in a Twins uniform before the 2015 season. Unless they loss Willingham (trade him before his contract is up) before then.

Gotcha. At least we're talking about our minor league again. Thank fucking god Bill Smith is gone. It's sad watching us shit away Mauer's prime but we have a bright future at least.

The last six hits Jay Bruce has had have all been home runs. He's hit home runs in 7 of his last 8 games. Beastmode.

Haha, and he adds another home run. Past seven Bruce hits have all gone out of the park. Dude has to be roiding.

Just a Buccos update for all you curious fans: They have the second best record in baseball now.

Unfortunately that only gives them the second best record in their division. Fuck you, St. Louis.

Pedro Alvarez is jacking the ball like a boss. And Gerrit Cole is now 3-0 in his first 3 starts with wins over both LA teams and the Giants. West Coast can suck his dick.

The NL Central is so damn brutal this season. Pirates are coming out hot. I can see them finally getting that winning record this year and even making playoffs.

I know we aren't even halfway through the season yet, but I am starting to get a bit worried about the Reds. Yes, they've had the second best record in baseball for the majority of the season, but they only have a .333 win rate against teams with winning records. And only .500 away from home. Of course, this also means that the Cards lose against losing teams more often, but there are enough red flags to be concerned. The bullpen has been sketch for the most part, they can't hit worth a shit with RISP and offensively they rely far too much on home runs.

This stretch of games has potential to be brutal - @Oakland, @Texas and San Francisco. I'm going to both of the games in Oakland and the last thing I want to see is one of those signature A's walk-off wins.

baseball is such a rollercoaster of emotions. Rangers got shat on all last week, and this week they look unstoppable. 3 in a row against the a's who have been hot as fuck and now two in a row against the cards. Feels good man.

Pretty much this. I was convinced that their patchwork pitching rotation was finally catching up to them but then they go and take two in a row against the best team in the MLB after closing out the Oakland series with two wins.

That's how Atlanta has been all season, thankfully the rest of the NL East doesn't seem to want to stay above .500

Sure wish the Tigers could get a decent bullpen so they could be the best team in Baseball like they should be. Bah.

That's why I'm pretty sure if things even stay halfway consistent, three teams from the NL Central will be making playoffs. The NL East has one dominant team and the NL West is full of teams that like to beat the shit out of each other and then continue to have difficulties outside their division or away from home.

Motherfucking database ate my long post. Readers digest version.

Pirates been consistent this year, no roller coaster really. Makes me more confident than anything else about the team.

Pedro hit one out tonight, 4 games in a row. No hitter in the game is more all-or-nothing than him. It's either yard or he's out.

they were without 3 of their best hitters and suffered even more pitching injuries. watching them score 3 runs in a 4-game series against a bad rotation was hard to watch but it wasn't a cause for long-term concern.
