Giants look extremely inconsistent as we head toward the all-star break. When they are scoring runs, they can't pitch worth a shit. When their pitching is on fire, they can't hit worth a shit(they've been hit by a ton of injuries, so that is partly to blame). Thankfully, they are in a pretty weak division that they have been doing a decent job of beating up on. As long as they get a tad more consistent and play better on the road, they should see a playoff spot. In the playoffs, anything can happen. Especially when you have a pretty decent rotation and a good closer. Some of their middle-relief is cause for concern, however. Nalasco might end up as a Giant as well, before the trade deadline.

they were without 3 of their best hitters and suffered even more pitching injuries. watching them score 3 runs in a 4-game series against a bad rotation was hard to watch but it wasn't a cause for long-term concern.
Even so, they shouldn't of gotten run over like that, the rangers hitting is pretty rounded and they don't have much in the way of standout hitting that they'd be crippled without in the same way that tigers would get crippled without Cabrera. I wasn't really worried per say, but there's no doubt that they played even worse than they should of. Either way, they definitely redeemed themselves sweeping the cards.

I just hope the rangers are in top form after the all star break. We have a shitload of games against the angels coming up, and the word I want to be chanting when I'm at one of the games is sweep.

When fully healthy (hopefully around September) the Rangers rotation + bullpen could be this:

Darvish/Harrison/Holland/Cobra Lewis/Perez/(Ogando) -> Robbie Ross/Scheppers/Soria/Ogando/Nathan

Sick stuff if Colby and Harrison are healthy/acclimated in time for the playoffs. I can't even begin to figure out the bullpen it could be so good, if it was me it would be Ross - 7th/Ogando - 8th/Scheppers - 9th, but Washington won't demote Nathan unless he gets hurt. Ogando has historically been a sick 8th inning guy and Scheppers easily has closer stuff.

Grimm and Tepesch have boosted their value huge too and could be some good trade bait along with Olt.

Sadly, I think lewis aint coming back, at least not this year. If he does, It'd be pretty optimistic to hope for more than a reliever. Harrison will be back before the years over, hopefully. You also left out feliz, who I think will come back and be in good shape by the end of the year.

Rangers certainly got some injury issues, but they're making things happen in the mean time. If they pull it together and get everyone healthy, they'll definitely be a force. They certainly have enough players that they can toss a few out as trade bait even. Lots of people are calling for an arm, but I'd really like to see the rangers pick up a big bat. Either way, they certainly don't have holes that need filling, which is really an ideal situation, they just need gravy players.

People saying Feliz is super fat right now, he might be done - dude has always been super lazy about working out.

I agree they need a bat too, maybe Alex Rios from the White Sox? If the Marlins ever make Stanton available that's obviously the dream trade. Though David Murphy has been hitting better recently but they still need to replace Cruz sooner than later.

Lewis apparently has had velocity issues in his rehab assignments. He was never a burner anyway but he could touch 90 but right now it's 85-86 which just isn't going to cut it. I'm still somewhat surprised that they've been doing as well as they have given what they're working with in their rotation.

because hes a free agent soon, and our management has shown itself to be highly allergic to free agency when it comes to older steroids players. Cruz is good, no doubt, but he's going to get over paid, and likely it wont be us that will do it.

It's not that they're allergic, they've just shown a preference to cap what they feel a player is worth paying. Nellie is a good player but if the price tag gets too high he will be with another team. They do have replacements in the system though so it wouldn't be a total loss, though I doubt we have the bat to match. I've heard great things about Engel Beltre defensively he just need to get his plate presence up to snuff.

Imagine if we paid 25+ million for Josh Hamilton and he was playing for the Rangers batting ~.200... I am glad we passed on him and he is someone elses problem. the fact it's the Angels is just cake.

Agreed. Fuck hamilton after the end of last season. I don't want him around our team period after that amazing show of indifference, and it looks like that was the right call.

Cruz I still like, but I don't like him enough to pay him what he's going to get. I just won't boo him when he comes back to the stadium like a-rod or hamilton.

Great thread title change. WTF, Tea? You're leaving me hanging here on Reds discussions.

People have tried talking about other teams, it gets ignored and more Rangers talk ensues.

It's fine, whatever as long as it's MLB related. But after awhile it DOES seem like this is a Texas Rangers thread.

With the All Star Break fastly approaching, are peoples playoff predictions any different now then they were at the beginning of the season?

I think they have to be. You can't just ignore inseason data. The Nationals are an easy example; a lot of people had them going to the World Series in the offseason and now they might not even make the playoffs.
