He was RRP'd for using a racial slur. No, it wasn't me. Starts with a T and ends in an yrant.

Considering this place has turned into a mini-Stormfront lately that's pretty hilarious.

Go fuck yourself, Tarrant.

edit: What racial slur? I don't even see one, unless "mongoloid" counts in Tarrantworld.

Tarrant probably went and searched for a post with a slur since nothing in the baseball thread has one. Typical Tarrant though. Can't gather facts to hold an argument so he just abuses mod powers since he's dumb.

At a quick glance, that looks like an overpay. Slightly less of an overpay if they have already talked to Garza about an extension, but still an overpay.

Garza is a mid-rotation starter on a good team, and Olt is a good prospect.

But Olt would not be starting in Texas for 4+ years with Beltre still at the top of his game.

Grimm started off nice but after a few swims through teams is now looking pretty average to below average.

C.J. Edwards is a good A prospect.

Garza is pitching really well right now for a bad team. Add him to Yu and Holland and you have a good 1/2/3. If Harrison comes back and Ogando or Lewis comes back to last years level. It's a pretty strong rotation.

Ryan Braun suspended for 65 games, MLBwanted him gone for 150 games....they decided on 65 games in agreement to drop the investigation against him.

A-Rod, Colon and Cruz are the next guys up to be investigated it seems.

Olt was really really bad when he came up last year and he's gotten worse since going back to the minors - lots of mixed reviews on him this year by scouts. He's got power but he's been striking out a ton, and he was never going to start for the Rangers. His prospect ranking will crash next year.

Justin Grimm is straight up bad - no movement on his fastball and he hasn't made it out of the 4th inning in the last 4 or 5 starts. He was okay early in the year after being forced into the rotation, but everyone has caught up to him now and his 2nd time through lineups has been a disaster.

Edwards has been pretty good, but he's 2-3 years out. So he's really all they are giving up that might help down the road.

Garza - I dunno, the Rangers usually like having pitchers try pitching in their ballpark before attempting to resign them to see how they handle the heat. They are desperate for starting pitching because of massive injuries to their #3-5 spots in the rotation and they can't win games and keep up with the A's with Justin Grimm and Ross Wolf pitching. They may not even need him next year because their rotation will be Darvish/Holland/Harrison/Colby Lewis/Perez.

They still need a bat, or two if Cruz gets suspended, before I'd say they are contenders.

Fuck Ryan Braun.

Fuck him in the ear. He is the new face of why PED's are destroying baseball. With his track record of litigation, denial, etc... he's barely a second to Lance Armstrong, and only because that fucker tried to deify himself.

You don't evaluate trades by presenting the worst case scenario for one team and the best case scenario for the other.

How is a rental best case scenario for Texas? Trade was basically Edwards for 3 months of garza, the other pieces were blocked and losing value rapidly.

A player being blocked at a position isn't a good reason to sell them too cheaply. You Texas fans should go back to arguing about football, because you don't know baseball at all.

i'm sure texas would have traded olt and half the farm for stanton if he were available but garza is really the best option this season. i think he's a bit overrated but he's a clear upgrade over grimm. i like olt but he's almost 25 and would have just stagnated in the minors if he weren't moved.

Garza is significantly overrated. He's got a fluky strand rate this year and his peripherals don't look great.

BA still calls Olt a top 50 prospect on their midseason list. I wouldn't trade a top 50 prospect for Garza straight up.

Making a deal with Olt makes sense for the Rangers but this was not the deal to use him in. I would've saved him for a Stanton deal or something similar.

Ryan Braun will be attending a rehab program. This makes me think perhaps this is suspension may be due to a more illicit drug rather than juicing.

EDIT: Also just came out he violated the leagues "substance abuse program".

From what I have been hearing, Olt's value have been dropping significantly.

This eye injury he has been dealing with has significantly effected his performance this year. There is a chance he never fully recovers from it.
