Fuck Ryan Braun.Ryan Braun suspended for 65 games, MLBwanted him gone for 150 games....they decided on 65 games in agreement to drop the investigation against him.
A-Rod, Colon and Cruz are the next guys up to be investigated it seems.
You don't evaluate trades by presenting the worst case scenario for one team and the best case scenario for the other.Olt was really really bad when he came up last year and he's gotten worse since going back to the minors - lots of mixed reviews on him this year by scouts. He's got power but he's been striking out a ton, and he was never going to start for the Rangers. His prospect ranking will crash next year.
Justin Grimm is straight up bad - no movement on his fastball and he hasn't made it out of the 4th inning in the last 4 or 5 starts. He was okay early in the year after being forced into the rotation, but everyone has caught up to him now and his 2nd time through lineups has been a disaster.
Edwards has been pretty good, but he's 2-3 years out. So he's really all they are giving up that might help down the road.
Garza - I dunno, the Rangers usually like having pitchers try pitching in their ballpark before attempting to resign them to see how they handle the heat. They are desperate for starting pitching because of massive injuries to their #3-5 spots in the rotation and they can't win games and keep up with the A's with Justin Grimm and Ross Wolf pitching. They may not even need him next year because their rotation will be Darvish/Holland/Harrison/Colby Lewis/Perez.
They still need a bat, or two if Cruz gets suspended, before I'd say they are contenders.
Sweet, we're all rich now!Ryan Braun suspended for 65 games, MLBwanted him gone for 150 games....they decided on 65 games in agreement to drop the investigation against him.

i'm sure texas would have traded olt and half the farm for stanton if he were available but garza is really the best option this season. i think he's a bit overrated but he's a clear upgrade over grimm. i like olt but he's almost 25 and would have just stagnated in the minors if he weren't moved.A player being blocked at a position isn't a good reason to sell them too cheaply. You Texas fans should go back to arguing about football, because you don't know baseball at all.
From what I have been hearing, Olt's value have been dropping significantly.Garza is significantly overrated. He's got a fluky strand rate this year and his peripherals don't look great.
BA still calls Olt a top 50 prospect on their midseason list. I wouldn't trade a top 50 prospect for Garza straight up.
Making a deal with Olt makes sense for the Rangers but this was not the deal to use him in. I would've saved him for a Stanton deal or something similar.
