Ryan Braun will be attending a rehab program. This makes me think perhaps this is suspension may be due to a more illicit drug rather than juicing.

EDIT: Also just came out he violated the leagues "substance abuse program".
Bullshit. I played ball. You're not an MVP and a substance abuser, unless it's sex addiction.

Ask Keith Hernandez, or any other 86 Met how that works out.

The rangers trade I feel is a good step for both teams. The rangers can use a reliable pitcher, and garza while not being amazing is certainly good enough to fill that role. grimm and olt both have upsides and potential, but that potential comes with risk. Cubs aren't going anywhere this season, so taking on that risk for something that could pay off is certainly worth it for the cubs. If olt figures his shit out he could become something really good, especially when he starts to peak in a few years. Grimm has shown enough to show that he could definitely become a serviceable pitcher with some work, he just isn't quite there yet.

Overall, I feel the trade was smart for where both teams are, especially if garza could be talked into a few extra years if he does good.

Derrick Robinson is becoming favorite new guy on the Reds - possibly surpassing Tony Cingrani. Dude beasted this catch last night to turn a home run into the very last out of the game - securing Arroyo's complete game shutout.

The crowd was predominantly Reds fans by the 6th inning. The Reds are seeking some serious revenge after the playoff loss last year. San Francisco is winless in four games against the Reds this season, getting outscored 25-3. Doesn't make up for the playoff loss, but I like the spiteful play against the Giants.

We're playing like shit this season. .BA with RISP is atrocious. The injuries haven't been kind either. Matt Cain has an era of 5, when it hasn't been over 3.2 since 2008. Zito and Lincecum aren't much better(I really hope we let Lincecum walk). Unless we go on an absolute tear in August and September, I don't see us making the playoffs, even with the division being pretty weak. If by some miracle we do, we aren't going anywhere with our current rotation.

Pirates bats have seemingly woken up lately, thank fuck. I was getting pretty nervous about the Cards series next week, should be pretty great though if they can keep swinging like this. Losing Grilli blows, but Melancon has been great in the 8th, he should be able to handle the role.

Holy shit this game was 30 years ago today. How the hell did that happen. Remember it like yesterday. What a moronic rule that was, at least they finally got it right.

George storming out of the dugout with his rage face on is how I envision a bunch of people on Rerolled, come August 2.

Edit: I can't remember a score being changed to cost a team a win days later since this game. Has there?

Oh man, Nats were coming back in the bottom of the 9th and the game ended on a DP. Except Neil Walker missed the first tag by at least a foot and the ump called it an out because he was on the opposite side of the player.

Terrible call, sucks for the Nats...LET'S GO BUCS!

I'm just about ready to say the Nats are out of it. Sloppy play by the Braves heading into the allstar break is the only thing giving them a sliver of a chance

It's early, but I'm pretty sure three teams from the NL Central will be making the postseason. The NL West and NL East are very underwhelming at this point.

Tim Hudson injury looked painful.

Seriously, it looked painful.

3 best records in the NL in the Centeral, pretty good bet there. I don't see Arizona/LA making the kind of run they'd need to catch up, and I can't imagine a scenario not involving a plane crash where a 2nd East team makes the playoffs.

Youch. On the bright side, a pitcher should be able to recover fully from that.

Josh Harrison(who!?) hit a 2 run homer early in the game and just got a 2 run double to tie the game with 2 outs and 2 strikes in the 9th.

God I missed watching late inning baseball that actually mattered for the last two fucking decades...

edit: Aaaand Harper 2 run walk off HR in the bottom of the 9th=P Fucker.

And Brett just stepped down as the Royals hitting coach today. That didn't last long, only about 2 months. :/

I dont think its fair to call their offense shitty. Its just okay at best. Fairly middle of the road to slightly below average in most regards. Im pretty pumped about having holland darvish and the new guy doing well. If we get harrison and lewis at top form god our pitching would be down-right dirty.

I think they would be okay if everyone was performing up to their normal standards - but Andrus is mired in his worst offensive season ever and they literally have no DH.

They can't manufacture any clutch hits and basically are winning most games from Cruz, Beltre, and Moreland hitting home runs. That will still win you more than half your games and if you got hot you could make/win a WS that way like the Giants but it's really nerve-wracking trying to win low scoring, 1 run lead games.

It's not like if they kept Hamilton/Napoli/Young things would be better - those 3 were pretty bad the 2nd half of last season and may be even worse on their new teams (except Napoli).
