I'm kinda surprised he signed before Soto? Then again, I guess that's an "overpay"/"really good money" for a really good, but not great player.

Technically the per year is due to the deferrals.

This deal contains no deferrals - just an absolutely incomprehensible number. The only deal in sports history I can remember this mind-blowing was when A-Rod got his $252 million and it was nearly double every sports contract ever.

Imagine offering a player $760 over 16 yrs, or $700m over 15 yrs which is what the Yankees and Red Sox's respective offers were and losing. Winter Meetings should be fun starting tomorrow; I figure the Yankees and Red Sox are about to go ape shit, with Teoscar being the beneficiary.
