When Blach had Israel in side control, it reminded me of Pride. It was an incredible position to be in Pride, but in the UFC it's largely worthless because you can't knee people. The same goes for north/south position. It's entirely different world on the ground when knee's are legal.

I don't even get the Ben Askren thing. He's one of the last people I'd want to represent MMA in a boxing match

This is why I have no interest after that Mike Tyson bullshit

The Nate Robinson fight was an exhibition as well I was pretty sure, or was it not?

I don't see why one would be an exhibition and one wouldn't be.

If the Nate Robinson fight was an exhibition (I'll check tomorrow) then it would be foolish to discount the Askren matchup on that basis.

Nate was struck by some of the hardest hands in the game right now and was nearly killed.

Just because Roy and Tyson (Tyson previously knocked someone out in an exhibition 10 years prior) had a gentleman's agreement not to hurt each other backstage, does not mean Jake and Askren are going to do the same.

Again, Nate left via medivac just about was barely alive. That's called a fight.

Cmon man, Jake Paul isnt even in "the game", and yeah he is talented, has good mechanics and some real hitting strength, but there is no way you could say that he is one of the hardest punchers in the fighting scene because he wiped down a retired basketball player who is smaller than my nephew.

meanwhile you got real hitters who are professionals, clocking highlight reel KO's of former world champions and REAL opponents. Jake Paul has a LONG way to go before he gets the same level of respect as world class knock out artists lmao.

The Nate KO was brutal, Ill give you that. he certainly created an incredible highlight and meme. he knocked that boy into the nether realm. I think we need to wait and see before we can just elevate him into the big boys club because he clocked a meme KO worthy of Worldstar treatment. If he can do that a couple more times to a real opponent, Im in.

maybe paul was good enough to slip in that uppercut to break his defense, but doesn't even seem like the other guy sparred

I mean the dude had real boxing training and Nate was an amazing athlete but he clearly didn't take this boxing thing seriously and got wrecked. That doesn't make Paul some kind of contender or unique flower in the savage hard hitter category among elite fighters.

at least paul isn't an embarrassment like cm punk, and the paul brothers have as much ability to pull in numbers.

paul is reported to have made double what tyson or fury 2 did and both venues had the same ppv numbers.

Nate is a basketball player, not a fighter. Of course he got wrecked. Askren is not a good boxer either. This will prove nothing even if Paul wins, but he will act like he's god's gift to man and make millions from it. Thumbs down from me dawg.

Ben Askrens striking is so utterly terrible, this fight shouldnt even have been made. Its honestly confusing.

Look at this high level display from Ben.

can someone get licensed to fight with replacement parts?

I've got early onset hip arthritis so I've looked into the same surgery. What Askren had is a hip "resurfacing", which is significantly more durable than a traditional total hip replacement. While it is quite soon after his surgery to be engaging in high-impact athletics, in theory there should be no problem.

DW won't put any money up. He's not stupid and it was all lip-service, and he's regretting the whole thing.

Cmon man, Jake Paul isnt even in "the game"...

I remember when I used to think Ben Askren was in the game. Then he joined the UFC and we realized he really was just an amateur the whole time.

I don't know he was just an amateur but I do think that flying knee sent him into headcase land and never recovered mentally

Missed UFC/Draftkings announcement last week, heard them talking about the new clock last week but didn't think about it.
DraftKings Becomes UFC’s First Official Exclusive Sportsbook and Daily Fantasy Partner in the U.S. and Canada
The sports technology and entertainment company will now be able to offer in-game promotions, activations, in-broadcast odds integrations and UFC branding across its daily fantasy and betting products and will possess rights to use official UFC marks and logos. On a weekly basis, DraftKings will also provide fans with free-to-play UFC games as well as enhanced prop bets and other innovative sportsbook opportunities.

apparently the deal is worth $350m over 5 years. some sites say it is $70m per year, others say $100m upfront and $50m per year.

I'm excited to see Hill fight finally and I always dig Ige's fights. ESPN+ is probably the best $6 I spend each month.
