It's amazing that the illegal blows always leave them rolling around on the ground. You'd never see him acting this way after a legal blow even if it was one that he just woke up from

Because after a KO or TKO stoppage they're pretty aggressive about keeping the fighter prone?

Maybe Sterling is hamming it up, maybe he isn't, but it isn't normal to try and sit someone up right after they've been blasted in the head with a full force unprotected knee.

They don't hold fighters on the floor after a KO. They let them sit up if they want to. I've never once seen anyone carry on like this. It's fake

Look, there is no fucking doubt Aljo was selling it like The Rock. It doesn't change the fact that Yan's knee was illegal as fuck and Aljo is under ZERO obligation to continue the fight at that point.

I just don't like how disingenuous Sterling was after the bout. He left the belt in the ring like a girl and then was pictured celebrating with it all night like hes had it for years.

Even worse, the Internet will be full of fuckheads using Askren as a representative example of an (amateur) Boxer beating the shit out of a (professional) MMA fighter (wrastler?)

I don't think anyone actually familiar with MMA will think it's indicative of anything, but a lot of people will, and that will be super annoying to listen to

I could see if Jake was fighting someone who was a real threat, I dont know, someone like Nate Diaz. Someone who can actually box, who can fight with his hands.

Askren might have the worse punching acumen I have ever seen in the octagon. It was CM Punk levels bad as far as striking goes. I mean, he is literally flailing away, doing needless, ineffective spinning backfists in between rushing in with a probing "jab". Its truly disgusting to watch. he is so out of his depth its embarrassing to witness

jake is going to sleep him bad.

I feel sick to my stomach betting on Jake Paul, but Askren is an equal to Ronda Rousey in his level of striking. Probably worse.

One of them is a Youtuber, the other is a professional fighter. There are no guarantees but with Paul being the favorite I think it would be silly to bet on him. Who cares how he looks hitting mitts this is a fight. You think Paul has the guts to keep it together 6 rounds deep and Askren is still in there? I'm not so sure

Problem is, Askren isnt going to be there.

And honestly, Jake Paul isnt just "a YouTuber". At this point he is a multi millionaire and one of the most popular internet personalities in the United States. he has massive support, resources and access to world class trainers, equipment, and food. That level of wealth changes your life style. He is young and also has some skill. Real fighters who have seen him work in person have vouched for him. So with all that said, he cant just be dismissed as some YouTube fag who is going "aGaInSt a REal UfC F1gHtEr!!!2!@"

Askren is in real trouble.

Yeah, the Pauls have been legit training with real trainers for a good while now. I don't think they have any chance of being any kind of contenders or anything, but you can't really just lump them in with random celebs. Askren is a real athlete, but wrestling and boxing are obviously different things.

Thats another thing that just makes this all the more strange, Askren isnt really an ATHLETE. Like yeah, he has wrestling credentials and was a multiple world champ in lesser promotions, but he was never a guy who was in love with the game, a hard charger in the gym who has great stamina. He has a dad bod....he doesnt have much endurance from what I have seen. he just isnt in great shape. You add that on top of his pitiful punching ability, and well, you have a gross mismatch that Pauls people are so happy to book.

Plus Askren is fucking old. Isnt he like 39? Jake Paul SHOULD fucking dust a sloppy, over the hill wrestler who has basically zero striking acumen.

What part of that makes a man a fighter? You ever met a fighter? I'm not saying its a sure thing, but being rich don't make you a fighter, I don't care who is training you.

Anything can happen in a fight. I don't know if you've never competed in a combat sport or had anyone close to you do so but fighters are a different breed of cat. Maybe Paul has that in him, maybe he doesn't. Nothing he's done up to this point really shows that. Knocking out another Youtuber and a former NBA guy (Basketball players can't fight, but neither of those guys were fighters) don't tell you much. This is a real test even though Askren couldn't box his way out of a paper sack. I'm confident that if Paul wins it will be by decision.

I'd bet on the fighter to win a fight though

In a case like this the more experienced boxer is going to win no matter how much non-boxing combat sport experience the other guy has. Remember how Mayweather was never in the least bit of danger and just instantly won as soon as he stopped clowning around in the fight against McGregor? And McGregor was considered a world-class striker in MMA at the time.

Sheer athleticism can carry you really far in a lot of sports, but boxing really is pretty unique.

I am pretty familiar with combat sports.

I dont understand why people would think Jake Paul is some kind of pussy? Just because someone doesnt fucking box professionally doesnt mean they are a soft touch. Jake has shown some pretty good hands and did what he was supposed to do both times out, quite impressively.

I think people just hate on Jake Paul because he is a sociopath and an idiot. Which is fine, as he deserves criticism for how gay he can be. But when it comes to boxing, he has looked pretty good. Askren isnt a real challenge IMO. Oh and are you really trying to argue that Ben IS an athlete? He looks like shit, cmon dude.
