This is the best card from top to bottom that I can remember. What a great night of fights.

Only fight that wasn't really entertaining was nelson and cormier, but i kinda figured that before hand. Overall though, great night, tons of finishes, one hell of a fight between gil and diego.

Roy Nelson put up another clunker. That dude is a one trick pony and can't compete with real MMA athletes.

FOTN and possible fight of the year was the Melendez fight. That was an adrenaline pumper. This was a great card! UFC just keeps getting better and better.

Awesome night of fights. I knew that Diego and Gilbert fight was going to be fight of the night...Diego is crazy as shit and sometimes it's hard to predict what will happen but what an awesome match up. Has Gonzaga always been that big? Shit...257 lbs. Dodson had that, "I'm a monkey bout to open a coconut with my fists" look again. I love it. Cain is a world beater. I used to think Jon Jones could move up and contend but after his fight with Gustafsson, probably not. I think Cain should be ranked #1 in the world. Sucks we can't see him and Cormier go at it though. Not to say that would be entertaining or anything considering Cormier's last couple of outings...would be interesting though.

Must say that I'm most disappointed that Ariel Helwani doing the Diego Sanchez "YES" chant during the weigh-ins hasn't went viral yet. Viral for the MMA community at least.

That choke JDS tried at the end was close, if it was earlier it probably wouldn't have ended the fight. Too slippery and too tired in the 5th though. Plus getting rocked by the mat=P

Also, how much better is JDS' English? Still love the guy=P

So, why all the hate on Cormier? He looked great. The fact he didn't finish Roy Nelson is no big shame, guys with 40lbs on him and years of striking couldn't do it. He still landed a ton of shots and showed a bunch of legit kicks we hadn't seen from him. You see those Brazilian kicks? Shit, it wasn't a great fight but it definitely reignited my desire to see more of Cormier. Those leg kicks were no joke.

2 fights that I hedged my pick on with "but that guy can definitely KO him" went against me, GD Dodson and Amagov=P

Melendez and Diego was amazing. Pretty much exactly how I expected, which is good. I was so worried I'd be disappointed somehow because it just seemed like such a guaranteed showstopper.

If Gonzaga grows that mustache all the way he will be my new favorite HW. Also that hook was badass. Jordan landed the lead there and I was all smug thinking it was the beginning of the end, that shit turned around on mequick.

Curious why they didn't show the Ferguson sub at the end since it was only a 2 minute fight. Pretty damn nice sub too.

Most of the fights went about how I expected, think my expert analysis was pretty spot on=P I'm back bitches! If I hadn't forgotten picks on 2 full events I think I'd be in 2nd place in the pool, boosts are where I make my bank=P

Not really. It sounds like Werdum is going to get the next shot, but I don't really see him having much of a chance. Unless he can somehow catch Cain in a quick sub, there isn't much chance for him. Outside of that, I really don't even know who they can throw at him that has a real chance.

Has a chance? No. But they do have a line forming. Werdum is next, and will more than likely be followed by Barnett or Browne. After Cain stomps any/all of the above, JDS should have nuked another 2 people into dust (not sure who though.... Stipe?) and will fight Cain a 4th time.

Yeah but I don't know if I'd want to see JDS look like he was in a Riki Oh sequel again.

I'm not sure how intentional it is, but they've managed to keep JDS and Cain from having ANY common opponents. This makes it easy to prop up any guys that haven't had to face JDS yet and pretend they are the next guy with a chance to beat Cain. After Werdum they have Browne and Barnett as mentioned, especially after they give each of them a squash match to keep them busy and viable. And after them you have guys like Stipe and Gonzaga they can put the hype machine behind after one or two more wins for each of them.

Gonna end up with a situation like they had at 170 where the obvious number 2(Fitch) was totally outclassed by the champion(GSP), but no one else could beat either guy.

He can be fun to watch because of his chin and knockout power but if he doesn't finish them in the first round then he's usually too winded to do anything. Respect to Cromier from knowing how to shut Nelson down but damn it's boring to watch wrestlers.

Grimm broke that down pretty well. However, I don't think Cain is unbeatable. Had the Overeem hype train not been derailed by Bigfoot we may have been having a different discussion right now. I don't want to come here and start throwing hypotheticals around but being up in Overeem's clinch much the same way he was in Junior's face most of the time the past two fights might not bode too well in the first round. But then I remember Cain's wrestling and fuck. This isn't stringing along too well. I think it'll be interesting to see how he performs against fighters that specialize in areas of MMA where folks might not see Cain being as comfortable as his oppenent (Muy Thai/Kickboxing and Jui Jitsu specifically).

At a glance it is really hard to see anyone who matches up well against Cain. If he fought Overeem (which still may happen, I expect Overeem to crush Mir) I am quite sure he would use a different strategy. He has a smart team around him, and they will gameplan for it. But yeah, pretty much what Grimm said. After JDS the gap in talent is pretty wide.

With as many times as he was dropped in his fight against Kongo, I honestly thought Cain may have a suspect chin. He put that to rest quite well with as many solid shots as he took from JDS though.
