I'd say Jon Fitch is a better example of cage pressing. There were a few other major guys using it during the golden age as well.

Fitch and a few other guys were the worst offenders. GSP at least secured the takedown.

Wall-and-stall was destroying the UFC for a few years before Dana White started putting pressure on the judges and athletic commission instruction to stop rewarding cage pressure as control when the fighter successfully defends a takedown.

This was a whole major debacle 15-20 years ago, but you might see goldfish on forums acting like it's some new strategy.

I'm not hating though. The pendulum has swung back. There is no reason to not revive that strategy if judges are going to favorably score it as control instead of scoring it to the person defending the takedown attempt.
the worst wall stalling is the kind where they are sucking on a tit or they are both staring each other down while holding hands

and then they do some gay shit like stomp on feet or maybe a pathetic knee, it's like rhythmic dancing, someone walks in on you watching that and calling you a faggot, you can't defend it

If you don't want to get fence fucked, stop the guy from fence fucking you?

Magomed controlled almost that entire fight. It wasn't pretty, but he definitely won.
How about the takedown for Pereria that didn’t get counted ? If your entire gameplay is to control a fighter against the cage and not be able to take him down. That’s pathetic. This supposed great grappler couldn’t do anything besides land one punch that had any real effect. If Pereria wouldn’t have been timid, he gets the KO. Which is gonna happen in the rematch.

if you can defend 11 takedowns and still outstrike your opponent, that defense should be rewarded better.

r1 20 (53%) Total Strikes 12 (40%) 16 Sig. Strikes 9
r2 18 (50%) Total Strikes 29 (55%) 18 Sig. Strikes 29
r3 21 (62%) Total Strikes 18 (44%) 21 Sig. Strikes 17
r4 23 (79%) Total Strikes 45 (74%) 7 Sig. Strikes 19
r5 15 (68%) Total Strikes 23 (59%)14 Sig. Strikes 20

thought they said alex was ahead on strikes around round 4, but after round 3, they were tied 59 total strikes and 55 sig. strikes. think mma on point said alex was at about half his normal strikes per min.
they should go with live scoring for championship fights.

We get it. You love Alex. Problem is, he allowed himself to be completely controlled, allowed Magomed to constantly walk him down, and fought off his back foot the entire time.

You can hate the strategy all you want and I won't deny that it makes for a boring fight. But how does a fighter "win" because he defended really well? Defense shouldn't be rewarded, other than something doesn't land, but in no way should you get "bonus points" for successfully blocking shit. Offense is how you win a fight.

Yay, I stopped the guy from taking me down, but I let him hold me against the fence for half the round by exerting his will over me?

Listen, we all know you’re a little slow here. But if you can’t even take a guy down after 11 attempts and can only hold him against the fence. Did you win that fight? Dude knew he might get knocked out trying to throw punches, but do you win just because you can hold a guy against a fence? That’s not control time by Dana’s standards. And the refs should know after 11 failed takedowns that he shouldn’t be getting control time credit in the fight like a little bitch. Doesn’t matter who. So go suck more dick you gay faggot. I hate all fighters who fence fuck the whole fight away.

Why didn't Alex just get off the cage then?

He had a faggot goblin holding him there who didnt want to fight obv. lol. Should have just started sucking on his tits for fucks sake. Ank definitely won, no denying that Alex was way to timid, much like watching Merab vs Sean O'Malley...actually, the fight reminded me a lot of UFC 300, even Dana's reaction.

frank mir had spine surgery

Recently, I faced a significant hurdle: I underwent an emergency spinal fusion and laminectomy of my entire thoracic spine. Although it was a tough decision, I’m happy to report that the surgery was a complete success!

Hope it works out for him better than whatever Ronnie Coleman had done.

I mean.. you could say it that way, but im not the MMA expert here. If its not entertaining, then fuck it. Merab's control style was amazing and hilarious to watch, loved that shit, actually understands the assignment given. Ank won the fought for sure, but there's no contest or even an argument the man is a boring goblin who doesn't even know what to do when Alex's ex slides in his DMs to congratulate him on his win, wanting to suck his dick.

I know people who bought every PPV but stopped immediately soon as it went to ESPN+ streaming PPV instead of cable PPV.

Lesnar was unimpressed by the buyrate when he was looking to come back on ESPN+ vs cable PPV. Seems not much has changed. For big stars who used to only make money on backend PPV buys, the move to ESPN+ was a paycut to top fighters seems to be the gist (Although that's changed since the McGregor era. It seems Poatan gets paid a significant amount of guaranteed money as does Jones).

Granted, it's a different era. Piracy is bigger, price changes drove people out, the bar license fiasco happened charging bars too much to show the event, etc.
