Despite what Romero did to my boy Weidman I wanted to see him fight Bisping and still will watch his fights. Shogun was one of my top 5 at one time.

I think it's a change for the better. It usually only happens when a fighter has cleaned out a division and one or both of the titles gets neglected. Women's featherweight was an absolute joke, Nunes only defended it once and the weight class ceased to exist after Nunes retired. Cormier never defended the LHW title after winning HW, Conor never defended either title after winning his second, Cejudo never defended flyweight after winning bantamweight.

1. Most importantly, it doesn't keep a stupid fucking title tied up for months, potentially even a year+.
2. Guys who want to move up because they're "bored", tired of cutting weight, etc. have to be serious about it. It can't just be a, "teehee!! Let's see!" - like when Izzy went up to LHW to fight Blachowicz and got absolutely torched (I mean, it still can, but now you have to drop a title to play that game).

it's what fucked up volkanovski, after only 4 title defenses he wants to go against makhachev and lose, oh and because he lost, he needed time to recover so yair won interim and then volkanovski had to unify his belt, b4 he went and lost to makhachev again, and of course he's such a loser now illia curb stomps him
also what does this do to makhachev, he's not a real champ, he's defended only 4x, and 2 of those times was against a midget featherweight
