That shit was perfect self hype for joining a new organization. After that you want to see him fight the best they have to offer.

Before the "You next" stuff aimed at King Mo. Which...I mean....God bless them for trying to rebuild some heat for that match up but that shit stopped being interesting about the time King Mo stopped being relevant...so like 2012?

Ronda Rousey Rumored to Fight Gina Carano or Cris Cyborg in July | Bleacher Report

While I think it is unfortunate that Gina stepped away when she did because there is such a small set of talented female fighters, her making a comeback against Rousey after being off for 4+ years just doesn't seem likely. That would lead me to believe that it is Cyborg who she would be fighting.

All that being said though, this is the UFC. They have a hype machine like no other, so it will most likely lead to a whole lot of nothing or maybe a minor announcement.

I have little faith Carano could make 135 after this kind of layoff. Even as ripped as Cyborg is I believe in her more to make it there. Gina struggled to make 140-145 classes regularly. It would take some extreme shit to get her down there. She got relatively big for acting.

Ronda/Gina would be the biggest fight they could possibly make. It would be a squash match for Ronda, but the numbers and hype would be insane. Think how much hype Meisha gets for her looks and then consider Gina Carano, who was also an American Gladiator and actual actress.

You're not wrong, but you can't argue with the $$$

I don't think they would bump Cat for anyone if she was available to fight now, which it sounds like she isn't. I haven't actually seen anything recently that even points to when she is coming back. I suspect the UFC wants to keep Rousey busy, but there isn't much out there that is currently available.

Gina Carano coming in and fighting Ronda without a prefight is pretty much impossible. If that rumor is true Grimlokk can choose my avatar for a month.

Cyborg on the other hand is possible but unlikely. The UFC wouldn't let a fighter unknown to the fans hop in to the UFC and fight their champion. Cris would have to come in and smash a few broads (while both making weight and passing every drug test that the UFC can muster) and get a title shot after 2-3 fights while Joe hypes the shit out of her.

And that's assuming you don't buy into the idea that the UFC would protect their beautiful and hugely drawing female champion from a much uglier, much more manly looking and non-english speaking fighter.

I think both fighters would have a good shot at winning, it's tough to put odds down. It's the biggest (from a fight-fan's perspective) fight they could make for sure.

Yeah Gina ain't happening. If she ever fights again it will be down the line.

Cyborg though, if they signed her to a multi-fight deal she'd be fighting for the belt in her second fight. She's not some total unknown like almost any other woman coming in would be. And it's not like she'd be hard to hype up as the Lady Lesnar coming in like an animal to rip up the ladyfolks.

Yeah, the only argument about Cyborg is whether she gets a shot after 1 or 2 fights. Though her coming in and losing to Meisha Tate or someone would be a hilarious upset.

I think Cyborg walks through the entire UFC female roster. Ronda looks so uncomfortable in the striking department, and I really think Cyborg could keep her away. Even if she doesn't manage to do that, I think her strength is enough to keep the fight standing, assuming the weight cut doesn't gas her.

Now, she has also been busted for roids so maybe if she is getting tested extensively and is off the juice she will struggle to keep that intensity, who knows.

I suppose there is also the possibility that the UFC has come to terms with Holly Holm, but I don't think that is enough to warrant the crazy hype Rogan is throwing behind this. I also think she should get a couple warm up fights in the UFC to make sure she is comfortable in the octagon.
