If I were Arlovski, I wouldn't accept a fight with Mark Hunt with only 7 weeks to prepare.
Well, tbh, its not like with a year's training versus a week, Arlovski is going to be able to take a big shot from Hunt any better. Arlovski relies on his hand speed and not getting forced to the fence to win fights. Unfortunately for him, Hunt has a propensity for just walking through shots and forcing his opponents into the fence where he slays them dead. It could very well be Arlovski v Kharitonov all over again. That said, Mark Hunt for a title shot without having to go through JDS works for me!

I don't really know much about Judo, but would a height disparity create a huge mismatch in a Judo match? Watching Rhonda work with the hips to bring people up off the floor for a throw, I have to wonder at what point someone is "too tall" for some of those throws to be as effective. Maybe that's not something I'd ever see play a noticeable part in MMA, and I don't watch Judo matches.

I'm sure it's the same as wrestling. If you're tall you have to find a way to use it to your advantage and mitigate the detriment from having a high center of gravity. If you're short you have to use your low center of gravity to your advantage.

As someone who is 6'5", I'd really like to test this with Rhonda.

For science, of course.

Low hips makes those throws easier. The only way your opponent can be "too tall" is if your hips are below their knees, or if they can completely bridge over your hips by posting their hands and feet on the ground at the same time (though you're almost always securing at least one arm anyway). On the flip side, just like striking, having greater limb length makes it difficult for the other person to get inside and allows you to attack before they can do much meaningful to you. Trips, sweeps, and reaps all day.

I am shocked, shocked I say! Injuries never derail our most anticipated fights.

Every so often I go through some random old pages of this thread. Not sure why, but I love it. Came across this gem leading up to the first Weidman/Silva fight.

Weidman is all hype, but it's MMA so everyone has a chance. Eventually Anderson will lose and we'll get all the assholes talking about how he was overrated all along or some bullshit.

Seriously though, the UFC hype machine is in full effect on Weidman. What has he really done? He beat an out of shape, depressed, short notice Mark Munoz and he decisioned a one trick pony in Maia who was fighting in the wrong weightclass.

Yeah, Weidman has the best chance of anyone to beat Silva, just like most of his last 16 opponents had the best chance to beat him. It'll happen eventually.
Boy I really nailed that one...

But I also made this one, so I officially get to remain conductor of the McGregor hype train=P

UFC signed their first Irish born fighter this week, Conor McGregor. If you watch InsideMMA you've seen a few clips of this guy in highlights fighting in Cage Warriors. Just demolishing people who were woefully outgunned. And if not don't worry, Internet's got your back.

Needless to say me and my stupid red beard are pretty pumped.

Except Weidman still really hasn't beaten Silva. He caught Silva being stupid in the first match, and Silva broke a leg in the rematch. Now Weidman looked fine in his defense against Machida, but Silva's boredom/stupidity and random chance are what put an end to Silva's reign, not Weidman.

This is a ridiculous post and you should feel bad.
