Thing is, I was scared the whole time that Gustaffson would weather the storm and Rumble would then gas horribly. If Rumble doesn't finish Jones right away, which I don't think he can, he gasses and gets subbed.
Except now that Rumble isn't cutting weight like he was, his cardio hasn't been an issue (See Davis fight).

Cormier went 5 rounds before with little difficulty till Jon Jones put in some good body work on him though. Jones, despite being a retard, isn't stupid when it comes to fights. He knows what Rumble's weakness is and he is going to target that body. If Lyoto, Glover, Rampage, Rashad, Gustafsson, Vitor couldn't put Jones away, I don't seem Rumble doing it.

I thought they butted heads until like the 3rd replay of that punch.

I can't think of another fighter that I'm more confident will land some huge killer punch that ends the fight than Johnson. It goes beyond the usual "punchers chance" to the point where you're just waiting for the big boom.

In real time I thought the Hendo stoppage was righteous but on replay he was already recovered enough by the time the ref stepped in.

That is a very nice quality gif.

Also it's going to be fun to see the Johnson vs. Jones build up. Those refs tonight sucked for a couple of fights, not sure if it was the same one or not in the Hendo fight. Hendo wasn't out imo...I hate he got that kind of a shake in that one because it would've been a fun fight I think and I believe he would've recovered.

So pissed I missed this. I thought the fight was at 7pm pacific for some dumb reason. Fuck!

It was a weird mix of brutal finishes and semi-boring fights.

edit: I loved seeing Akira get knocked out. He's such a douchebag.
As soon as he decided to brawl with Sacilia he was doomed. Sam loses to wrestlefucking, or he brutally KOs people. Akira is probably getting cut after getting KOd in his last 3.

Anyone else hates Phil Davis? Everytime i see him in the octagon i am hoping for someone to jump in and yell at him to man the fuck up.

I wouldn't say I hate him, but he's been pretty disappointing. Used to feel like he's capable of a lot more than he shows in the Octagon, but now I think we've seen all he's got and he'll never really be a contender for the title, just kinda shift up and down the back half of the top ten in the division.

I don't hate him but I agree that he needs to be more aggressive. Not sure if it's a cardio issue, but if you're a wrestler you need to pressure guys.

Yeah hate is the wrong word, I think frustrating is more appropriate. He seems to have a ton of potential, but we have been saying that for years. His striking still appears to be stuck at average, and his takedowns have become far less effective. Turns out to be a pretty boring fighter to watch recently, that is for sure.

I get the sense that Phil Davis has the body of a freak athlete, but not the athleticism... if that makes sense. He is big, strong, fast... but his coordination just has always been a bit awkward, and it has really limited his development. We probably saw his ceiling against Glover Teixeira.

I am a pretty big Jon Jones fan and thus I obviously root for him in every fight. This up coming Rumble fight has me a little conflicted, I really like both guys. As much as I would like to see Jones keep winning and solidify the GOAT status I think I would be ok with a Rumble victory. I guess I just want to see a good fight.

Akira might retire after that 3rd KO in a row ...

EDIT: I guess he went ahead and retired.
