I gotta say, the Wandy/Stann fight really made my night. UFC has become too much of an outpointing game, that the majority of fighters just play it safe anymore. Rarely do you see two guys go out and leave it all out on the line and just entertain the fans. While I understand "fighting smart" versus just slugging it out, sometimes a good knockdown dragout fight is just what the doctor ordered. The Fuel card was just a snoozefest until the last 2 fights. 8 decisions in a row before the last 2 fights. I hope Dana gave them a good bonus for making the main event an actual main event. The UFC really has to do something to promote exciting fighting. As it stands now, fighters try to do the minimum to win to save injury and prevent a loss since they get cut on the drop of a dime. Lose twice in a row? Better lay on your opponet the next fight for 3 rounds and win so you don't get cut. I'd much rather see Wandy excite me with an active fight, even if he loses, than watch GSP lay on his opponet for 5 rounds. Why is Anderson so popular? He knocks fools out. I wouldn't call it the dark ages to want to see two guys leave it all on the line. 2 jiu-jitsu fighters can put on an exciting ground game just the same. The Rousey fight is a good example of that. Bad example? the Lavar Johnson fight on the same card. Schaub just laid on him, doing nothing while Lavar was too exhausted to escape. Smart on Shaub's behalf? absolutely...exciting? not so much, but Schaub got the win and now Lavar is on a 2 fight skid and if he loses his next fight, possible pink slip to oblivion. Does Schaub really deserve to stay in the mix of heavyweights? I can't see anything he brings to the table that will make him a top 10 fighter. He was on a 2 fight skid coming into that fight. How does he stay in the UFC? take down opponent, hold down for 3 rounds...???...profit.

Think I mentioned this back when it was just a rumor, but starting in August Fuel will start showing live Fight Night events every Wednesday. This could be a great way to keep the lower card guys busy. It will be like Bellator I hope.

Not sure if anyone has been following the Team Lloyd Irvin stuff after the news about the rape of a former student there, but the whole thing kind of exploded today. A lot of dirty shit came out about sexual power abuse in his camp and an almost cult-like environment that he was breeding there. Worth a read.

For the lazy, Overeem is injured and won't be fighting JDS now. Which fucking sucks. Would love to see Mark Hunt give it a go...really not sure how it would go if JDS has similar striking as before.

Well, 4-5 weeks off puts him at early/mid-April to get back in peak shape AND train. I don't begrudge a guy coming off a devastating loss the right to get 100% before he steps back in. Even if it is someone we're going to be constantly skeptical about. 6 week training camp seems to be the standard right now, and coming off an injury I don't think he'd want to go straight from getting healthy to full camp to fight with zero break.

So is it just me or is GSP/Diaz a lot less exciting a prospect than expected?

Maybe I'm just burned out from the commercials every 4 minutes. "Ee dus nod know 'ow dark eet ees een my 'ed sometime!".

Maybe I just don't give a shit about a guy who hasn't fought in over a year, and in that fight got thoroughly dominated.

Whatever it is I just don't give much of a shit about the fight. It doesn'tfeelimportant. Outside the cage antagonism just does fuckall for me anymore. And after the Condit fight I no longer feel like Diaz can force GSP to engage. I HOPE Diaz can come over the top of that GSP jab a few times and force a gameplan change, but I don't expect it=/

Yeah they are playing the hell out of that commercial. The conference call today was pretty fucking epic though.

I dunno, maybe Im overestimating Diaz like some have mentioned here, but something tells me he can bother GSP. Bothering him and beating him are two different things, but I'm still not totally convinced GSP's chin is legit. His KO loss to Serra was eon's ago, but if he starts taking some punches and isnt able to bust Nick up enough to sap him or keep him at bay, he might get roughed up a bit. Eventhen he will still probably pull out a decision, because he is GSP, but I can definitely see Diaz leaving the fight looking the better man (face wise and damage wise).

It would be interesting to see them on the ground but I doubt it happens. Diaz BJJ is a debated topic as some feel its over-rated but Im pretty sure he is good enough to neutralize almost any WW in the UFC. Ill admit Im biased towards DIaz but I would like to see a Jackson fighter, GSP especially, take some fucking chances and give the fans blood and excitement.
