Seems like a fight between Bisping and Belfort should happen in Vegas. Both guys want to retire after the next one. If they want to fight in their home country let it be against someone else that's not retiring. Also I think it's time that the UFC start paying fighters show and win money when their opponent doesn't/can't make weight.

is the pay thing a ufc or commission rule?
Recall rogan or someone on his show saying, fighter gets 25% of fight money only if opponent steps on the scale
if it gets cancelled before that, don't have to get anything, but the UFC normally pays something.

it is sorta crazy how much some guys spend now. Hunt said after his fight was cancelled, his camp had cost him 100k.

I'm not familiar with whatever they have in place. I do know that if it were someone on the undercard, making the trip can be pretty expensive seeing how much they make sometimes. It just seems like if the UFC is demanding the kind of money they want for a new broadcast deal they could at least address some pay issues. Fighter pay still sucks, but there isn't really that many fighters that can generate a lot of buzz nowadays.

I realize there's more to training for a fight than running along a beach or chopping down trees, but I seriously question anyone spending 100k on a single training camp.

There are only two stipulations to the fight contract
1. show up
2. weigh in properly

that's it, anything else is whatever you, as the fighter want to do to improve himself.

The UFC doesn't give a shit if you spend 500k to prepare or spend all day playing call of duty.

Yeah I don't see why someone like Mark Hunt would spend $100k+ for a UFC fight. He doesn't make that kind of scratch anyways I wouldn't think. As for the Diaz gif...he'llk never make close to what he made against McGregor ever again. It wasn't his name that got him the payday he got it was McGregor's. Ngannou even talking about boxing Anthony Joshua after the Stipe fight...Ok....well do it and come back. Don't expect your little boxing fight or someone elses to change the way MMA fighters get paid. I love Ngannou but Conor is the only guy out there with a personality that will sell fights. That Colby Covington fool tried to be a cool guy and well, you can't do it if you are whack.

That said, Mark Hunt is a cool dude. People like to watch him fight and see if he can knock someones head off. But that crowd is limited to MMA when it comes to live events. His shit might be all over WorldStar and YouTube the next day, but until you solidify yourself amongst the common folk you aren't going to get that multi-million dollar pay day. Leave that to the top of specific divisions.

Case in point, Ngannou chilling in the south of France these past 4 weeks with no access to an MMA gym after partying and pigging out on the holidays because he said he doesn't need to train.

Lanx OK first episode is out, and its just him landing in town for fight week. He says he trained but UFC 220 press conference he said he had no camp set up there. Seemed like a forced answer and not very believable.

Episode 2 is out today, just Ngannou bopping around with street clothes on again. 2 Episodes on a row, not gloved up.

You are right about the lack of respect. Was looking at the odds on these fights, ngannou or whatever is like -200.

Wanted to bet on it, but can't understand how much of an underdog he is.

They say never bet on HW fights cuz you don't know where a lucky punch could slept a guy, cuz they're all so big, any strike is dangerous. unlike the midget mouses where they pitter tap

Reports: McGregor to be stripped of lightweight title
UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor will be stripped of his title this weekend to allow Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov to fight for it, according to reports.
The Irish fighter has not fought since claiming the 155-pound title in November 2016, and in that time Ferguson has risen to claim the interim belt.
McGregor has apparently been in talks over a defence in August, but the UFC is apparently unwilling to wait that long.
Quoting sources close to Nurmagomedov, Russian website Tass said that McGregor will be officially stripped of his title after Ferguson and the Russian signed up to fight for the belt on April 7 in New York.

i believe it,eddie said he wanted to put his knee surgery on hold cuz tony has a fight coming up.

Good, they waited too long to be honest. I don't care how big of a star you are, if you aren't actively fighting, or even in discussions to fight, how the hell can you be the champ? That fucking boxing match was the worst thing to happen for the UFC. Conor got clowned (as expected), and now he has enough money that he isn't really motivated to fight in the UFC.

No one posted that Jon Jones passed a polygraph test yesterday regarding if he knowingly took steroids. Lot of folks on the internet saying it's no big deal then there's also a lot of folks that find it to be a good sign. I think it's definitely good for him regardless of the flack he will continue to receive. Hopefully he'll be back sooner now. The LHW division needs it.

Also, my friend and I were discussing who is the best grappler/BJJ guy at 205? Currently it'd probably have to be Cormier...I like the odd submissions OSP and Phil Davis pull off sometimes, but that's just sometimes.

Unless he was subjected to a drug test immediately before the polygraph and the credentials of the interrogator are made public as well as a full transcript of the session, idgaf.
