It is so "wild" since World was amazing and ran great. Don't remember having a single performance issue at all.

Having your starting area be a poster child for "too much brown" doesn't really help either. It runs like crap and you're looking at nothing but desert and blurry rock textures.

Is it worth getting the check mark (Quest Complete) on the optional quests?

Only in LR atm.

If there is an icon next to them sure, they are for an NPC quest and they award a variety of things. For non icon ones they are just for completions sake so worth is subjective.

Not how sure they make this game harder...but they really need to do something. I have died twice total to bad optimization. That's it.

I heard they were calling in GGG to port their mace design philosophy and power levels directly into MH:Wilds.

Lol. First Dragon's Dogma and now this. Fucking Capcom charging 900 bucks for their trash games that are horribly optimized.

I'm glad I learned my lesson with DD2 and decided to wait on this.

Yeah game just feels lacking compared to even base Worlds. I remember it taking a while to get to the end game, then the next end game, then the end game after that around rank 100 or something. I'm already at building an end game weapon and jewel farming =/.

World was definitely harder. Especially with the weapons REALLY being better than World at launch. The optimization monster is the hardest so far.

Running pretty good for me but I have a 4080 and 9800x3d. Feel for people with older systems. The fact 3080s' are struggling is mind blowing.

Without you (the player) forcing limitations on yourself I don't think they can make this game harder if you are decent no matter what they release or do to the monsters without a fat ass nerf across the board to like everything.

1) Damage is way too high. Even if you use rarity 1 weapons on the HR monsters they just fall over due to focus/wound system.
2) The status effects apply extremely often. I have gotten upwards of 3 paralysis off in one short fight without any additional bonuses to support it. I've tried with blast/poison etc and they proc all the time too.
3) The base windows for guard/parry/offsets/evades etc are extremely generous and with set bonuses in anything that extends or helps prevent damage further it is nearly impossible to fuck up. This is negating tons of damage and ensuring greater dps uptime.
4) While this is technically good thing the hitboxes are tight and ensure you aren't getting banged around by every little thing again which means more dps uptime.

Basically you have to cut out like two thirds of the weapon types (nothing that can guard/counter), all status weapons (paralysis esp), majority of set bonuses (no extenders/guard ups/divine blessings etc), no palico, no food buffs and no focus/wound targeting to make it feel like a "fair" fight if you are a vet.

For new players it's still a challenging game from what I've been watching on various "first time" streams and via some of my friends who started playing.

4 is what I’ve been noticing and trying to put my finger on the most so far. I’ll use the word slippery to describe it. With aggression and the SnS I can constant slip around whatever I’m fighting. Don’t even have to bother dodging or blocking because after a few autos I’m behind/on the other side of whatever I’m fighting.

So, just hit HR20 last night, and other than a triple cart to the opening High Rank mission due to being tired/worn out from heavy lifting on Saturday it's been relatively laid back hunting. Will agree that the support is absolutely nuts, with the HBG the NPC support hunters and/or my Palico are keeping the mob off me for long enough to dump meter even when the mob is still active. Perfect Guards and Offset Attacks are massive at being able to just stand your ground and keep your uptime rolling. A lot of the lack of difficulty I'm seeing seems to be due to player knowledge and skill being paramount, so if you've got a decent idea of how a monster telegraphs and which attacks are unblockable, you can solo them naked with a starter weapon (provided you can stay focused for the entire fight). Case in point, ran a HR Alpha Doga with a few randoms, and two of them carted due to missing dodges and getting greedy. Meanwhile I was sitting there just goading the big fucker into attacking me because I wanted to get more power clashes.

On a weapon note, I've seen a lot of complaining that HBG has been severely nerfed compared to WorldBorne/RiseBreak, and it really doesn't seem that way from my runs. The mod system for bowguns has replaced a ouple of skills, and ammo directly leveling seems to be a strict improvement for the 'base' triad of norm/spread/pierce. The addition of being able to Perfect Guard/power clash and normalized integrated Shield really seems to make up for the loss of mobility from Rise (RIP wirebugs). I can see the issues with spread not currently having any way to offset the currently enormous recoil and other specialized playstyles (Sticky/Slashing/Elemental) currently feeling left out in the cold, and that's where I'm hoping they come through in the Title updates and inevitable expansion.

Overall, I'm thoroughly enjoying myself and looking forward to experimenting with GL and IG. Sould be wild for me trying to get those to work with MKB.

EDIT: Just for context, the wilds beta was my first serious foray into the series, enjoyed it so much I bought Rise and Sunbreak and cranked through to MR4 in the weeks before wilds release.

Yeah SNS far and away feels like the strongest weapon out of all I've tried. The extreme mobility while doing continuous damage and the non stop wound generation is crazy. It also applies elemental status very fast. Defensively the slide has a huge amount of base iframe and you can perfect guard literally anything a monster does.

hmm it actually feels more like a standard MH game vs World.

The previous versions(before World), the base game was literally just a base game basic story and had just Low Rank/High rank hunts, the game flourishes from all the add-on content, and constant balance changes with each add-on. G-Rank was its own version of the game(within Japan) we never really seen these versions, except for the first couple games, and if I remember right MH3rd was the last game were we got 2 different versions, 1 was the PSP Version(base version), and the PS3 Version later with G-Rank. Maybe they are going back to this system which would be odd sense World and Iceborne did so great.

The game is "easy" due to the amount of power players have access too far sooner than what they remember in World (Rise was almost this easy as well). The amount of Decorations and special Gems we have access too is huuuuge for building up power. As others have mentioned the NPC Supports are good as well. Those who stick around will be glad for this ability to put together gear prior to the Title Update coming in soon. My only concern is that these upcoming Updates could be a bit thin.

Rise wirebug trivialized a lot of things.

Our overall base weapon kits, mobility and invuln windows are what makes this game easy. This is the kind of shit we are doing already and it requires zero gear, bonuses or anything. You can login fresh and mow everything down from start to end of story and onward. Once you get corrupted mantle and your favorite end game gear you are killing everything in <3 mins from load in to end of mission without needing to learn shit about monster timings/positioning etc. Other weapons have safe high damage output as well and combine that with the ease of defensive tools this is why we are saying the game is easy. So how do they fix it? Just making monsters do more damage isn't going to do anything if we aren't taking damage in the first place. Adding more health or lowering our damage output isn't going to do anything either other than add some time to the hunt.

Cleared story, time for the real game.

SnS feels damn good in this. Lance too. Actually it seems anything that can guard is good heh.

You're missing my point. That is a fully kitted out dude end game fighting a monster with full knowledge of its abilities and timings.

My video is a guy spamming a completely mobile base attack ability and due to guard slash can reset and chain it infinitely which can be done at HR1 until forever. It requires no set up, no timing, no gear and you will mow through everything at no risk.
