The chase for the rare drops isn't there. Easy to get your armor and jewels so the time was cut way down. "End" monsters outside of maybe Gore's aggressive ass aren't all that challenging. Kinda hate the mount too because they created this big world...that you never see because you just autopilot between monsters/locations.

Didn't consider the auto pilot. I do NOT know the maps in this game. World? I could tell you where every berry and honey was!

Couple dumb questions:

1. I hunted a few random tempered 6* monsters for the hell of it and I got the parts for a rarity 7 blast/attack infusion SnS. I assume it's worth making, since it's pretty clearly better than the rarity 6 Ajara or Gravios ones I have now? Also, just noticed I have the same stuff for dragon/attack, which is also much better than the G. Veldian II one. Should I reinforce them at all too, or just wait on that until I can make rarity 8 weapons?

2. As far as SnS goes, does the LT+Y slide attack count as evasion and/or have i-frames? Sometimes it seems like it does, but I assumed I was just imagining it.

You can mass convert 6/7 parts at the melder chick. Definitely wait for 8's.

Slide attack has iframes during the slide, before/after you are vulnerable.

Ended up making the blast one after reading that I can get back all the reinforcement materials I use on it. I figured it will let me skip any weapon farming I would consider doing between now (beginning of Ch.5) and crafting the rank 8 Ajara SnS, and that should be well worth the cost of 3 parts.

Does that mean Evade Window works for it? I don't really have a ton of good armor decos so I've just been using 1 Mighty and 2 Evasion in those slots.

Haven’t tested evade window myself.

So is it still always better to capture the monsters? Trying to get 4 of these without having to do 4 separate hunts (assuming I can even break the head every time using SnS, which is a bit of a pain):

Capturing is basically a execution mechanic in which the only thing you sacrafice is the ability to carve. Will getting rid of the extra 15-20% of the monsters health save you more time then doing an extra hunt, since you need 4 probably not.

I'd probably go for the carve honestly.

Does anyone know if its possible to get double tempered arks/gores at 5 strength? I seem to only ever get a gore and a 6 star monster.

Just solo? Wonder if adding the support hunters would help get the parts you need.

Whatever you can do fastest, breaking certain "parts" helps with drop rate, but honestly the RNG can still fuck you overall.

Yeah, it ended up taking 5 runs anyway even with breaking the head every time and capturing the monster. It was actually the "70%" break that fucked me; only got 1 from that and the other 3 came from the end of the hunts.

Next question: what's the fastest way to get from like HR65 to 100 (that doesn't involve MP)? Kind of need to wrap this up with Atomfall out tomorrow and XCX already here, and I've got pretty much everything else done for SnS besides hitting 100 so I can finally get a Sane jewel. Zero luck with the right parts for a rank 8 artian blast SnS yet, but until a Guardian/Handicraft jewel drops for me it's not really an upgrade anyway.

Just killing Tempered_Punchingbag_01 aka Tempered Arkveld. Think it's like 3/4 a level each kill or close?

Well, this just got super retarded:
1742787917524.png

Ran out of relics at this point, nothing better than a 3/5 roll to show for it. There's only a 1.56% chance of hitting 4/5 (actually slightly better since you can't hit more than 2 sharpness rolls, but that's way more complicated math than I'm going to do on a Sunday night for a game) but it's still pretty irritating knowing that I have to not only collect a shitload more materials but also go through those first 23 fails a second time. Definitely not even going to try bother unless I have all three of the jewels I need in hand, which means getting that obnoxious Guardian/Handicraft one to drop. I guess could make the third row as dragon or maybe paralyze and just use it for a while since it's better than non-artian ones. Still only with the correct jewels though.

I can't complain about drops. I've gotten a ton of decs with useful secondary skills for my builds.

Drops really are in a good spot. I think they could've added some chase xmog stuff though (more of it), would've also liked to see more of a reason to explore. I like the artian weapon system and the chase factor to make them perfect, but Id like that system be separate from the weapons some how. In its current firm I hate it because 90% of the time monster lines don't compete.

My luck is pretty much exactly what I expect it to be. After I decided that LS was not for me, I made a tough choice between SnS and Gunlance with SnS winning because I'd never really tried it before in any MH. So, of course while cashing in my melding tickets I got both Artillery III and Magazine III (with either Ironwall I or Expert I to pick from as a freebie) long before anything important for SnS.

I'm actually debating between the two again right now. I finally got a plain Guardian III jewel last night so I can finally use artian and other elemental SnS that don't come with innate Offensive Guard 3. And I re-read the SnS googledoc and the sharp/sharp/atk/atk/aff one I have in row 3 is more or less a 4/5 roll. I can't decide between blast, dragon, and paralyze for the element though.

Other option is that I basically have the full meta Gunlance build just sitting in my inventory without even trying. I think the only thing I'd have to actually farm for is a Challenger II charm, but that's just a few Uth Duna hunts for a watergem.

Something sort of related that I found out last night that may help other people, since I've seen talk about third party controllers in the thread:
If any of you have the PowerA Fusion Pro (3 and 4 for sure, haven't tried it with my older one) controller for Xbox/PC, it can actually map button combos to a single back button. So you can put Y+B on a button for weapons that make you spam those attacks, or LB+Up to call your seikret while using the control scheme that lets you scroll the inventory with dpad L/R instead of the awkward as hell LB+X/LB+B default setting. This made the idea of switching to Gunlance a lot more palatable (and helped SnS out too).

I don't know if the Xbox Elite or Dual Sense Edge controllers can do the same, but it's worth a shot with them too. My Dual Sense with Rise4 kit definitely can't. Not sure why I never realized you could do it with the PowerA, but for some reason I thought that 8bitdo gamepads were the only ones that had the feature, since you can create macros in Windows and save them to the controller. Good for PC and Switch, but doesn't help with Series X. The Fusion Pro 4 is by far the best third party controller anyway; the 3 was already great and they added hall effect and stick height adjustment on the fly to the new version. There's even a wireless one, but I would rather put up with the cable than pay more than double the price for a minor convenience.
