I've never played a monster hunter before, would this be a good one to jump into on the PC release? Since I live in Asia I'm guessing that latency would be terrible to whatever servers you guys play on but any advice would be appreciated.
I am INSANELY proud of this. Might be best video yet. No music just the raw footage, timing took 3+ hours to figure out.
2minute 14second Tempered Vaal after dropping my HP to 1 and using Felyne Heroics and doing the entire fight dodging both all his hits and AOE, as well as stun locking him the entire time. Also both pillars get dropped on his dome piece!
I think what'd be really helpful would be some vids showing top-level gameplay of those weapons. I'll link what I find as a total newbie. For the new people trying to decide what to use here is my experience, more or less in order of what I like from best to least:
-Hunting Horn just flows for me, the added support makes me feel like I am helping even when I am terrible.
-Lance loved it when I started playing(don't use it much anymore), something about the charging lance attacks really felt cool. Easy to mount monsters.
-Bow has been a staple for me all the way through my game time, and I have used it the most.
-Great Sword hated it until I got good, really satisfying weapon to land hits with.
-Hammer is what I play when I want to be lazy, spin to win.
-Gun Lance is amazing when it comes together but by far the most frustrating weapon to use for me, at least as a burst weapon. If you poke, dodge and explode it flows like the horn.
-Light and heavy bow guns feel clunky as fuck and I almost never use them.
-Dual blades are good but not for me.
-Insect glaive has the most style but not my thing.
-Sword and shield was actually the first weapon I ever used and I recommend it while you get your feet wet.
-All the rest I have literally never killed a monster with, thinking of trying a switch axe build soon.
What is so great about above is your experience will vary greatly and just when things get stale you can switch weapons and go for a new build, it is like a whole new game/way of approaching the monsters.
I agree. good thing about endgame vids is that there's a large number of them, and any decent times are ostensibly put out by people playing correctly. I imagine in all the videos I've linked the players are avoiding central mechanics to the boss fights because they're doing so much damage. Not sure if endgame videos gives new players the real idea of the mechanics especially if they are so new they have no idea what is going on.
I will say the biggest thing that people seem to get hung up on is the speed of the weapons. Some people can't stand slow weapons.
can you explain what's going on here? I don't know shit about this game so take my opinion with a grain of salt but it looks like you just spammed attack and crafted some bombs for a minute or so and the mob died, what are you doing to dodge his hits?
Let's do this add me!@a_skeleton_00 Showed the wife some videos, and she's like why aren't you playing this on the Ps4?
Uh oh!
After watching all those vids I still have no idea what's going on or what weapon offer the kind of high damage, high skill-cap, fun gameplay I want. I guess all of them.
Leaning toward great sword though, seems really fun?
I think I'm back to charged blade, and maybe will switch to bow or long sword.
