I gave serious thought earlier about going to the park below my building in downtown here and asking one of the bums on that brown butter to call in a terrorist threat to my building so I can go home and play MHW.

Use flash pods when Rathalos is flying, screacher pods when Diablos burrows. You can get some good hits in doing that, esp on Rathalos cuz that bitch flies forever!

Also, bring flash bugs to make more during the quest.

How do I use flash pods? Normally on my slinger thing I just shoot stones. Rathian was my first fail and it was because he flew away on me. Half of the battle was learning how to navigate to his nest.

You load them into the slinger from your inventory. And as I learned, don't shoot them into his face, just shoot them at the ground or some object in front of them. The flast radius is yuge.

Also unlock the Northeast Camp in Ancient Forest via Deliveries if you haven't already. Cuts a lot of time getting up that stupid tree.

Yeah I unlocked it and learned the quick path to his nest. I need to figure out tonight how to load the slinger too, i was completely ignoring it :)

Just hit square when you have it selected. Whatever is loaded will appear next to your items on the bottom right

Slinger is hot. On top of special crafted ammo. When you break pieces off of monsters it becomes piercer ammo and stuff which can do a lot of damage to them.

Barroth is giving me the blues. This is the first console game in a very long time that made me throw my controller across the room. Can't seem to kill him fast enough. Fucker keep going into the swampland limping and burying himself in the water. Is he regening health when he does that? Call me crazy but it seem there is no health meter on the monster.

Yes, they regen, but not super fast. If he's legit limping and goes off to sleep then just trap and tranq twice to capture or throw some bombs down or power up your biggest moves. There isn't a rush to kill things in story/investigations unless you're in expedition mode in which case stuff will wander off into the sunset and not come back for a while and back at full health.

Yeah it's really good and helped break me of playing less safe in high rank since vigorwasp was so nice for free heals.

Grab the watermoss in the swamp area. He's gaining mud armor when he rolls around in the mud that makes it much harder to hurt him. He shakes off all the mud at various points also you might have noticed. If you get the water moss you can blast it off with the slinger and wrek his shit.

No mobs have health bars. You can see visual cues when they are weaker. Like missing horns, scratches, drooling, limping, etc.
