My armor is a mashed up mess, the abilities barely help but hot damn that extra defense has been worth it. I made the rarity 8 skull helm with base 64 defense and whatever else high rarity I could in each slot and now low rank stuff hits me for .5% of my health and high rank maybe 30% on the bigger hits. So good. Pink Rath is my bitch.

Oh wow, I didn't know it might work on charge blade phials. The description in MHW made it sound like it was just for cannon and ballista emplacements, but maybe I just didn't look closely enough.

There's two different skills. One affects explosive weapons, the other one affects cannons and ballista.

Artillery skill is made for the Gun Lance, since it uses both explosive shells and has the Wyvern Fire skill. I use a level 2 in my Gun Lance.

Just keep following the main story, they will all unlock in due time. You can't force weapon upgrades in this game. You can only farm for what's already revealed.

Also does the armor upgrade cap increase every level or does it only progress with story?

Can someone explain how the Slots will work in MHW? I'm kinda hoping I'll be able to get a nice looking armor set, and add some Skills that are good for the Bow specifically. So far, I've only seen 1 skill that has a buff for a Bow skill. I really dislike mixing armor sets.

Edit: For those farming up materials, try to get Investigations that deal with that specific monsters and have Silver/Gold rewards. Then Capture them if you can, you'll get so many materials and a good chance at Rare materials. Only took, I think 4-5 kills/captures on Anja to get Weapon and Armor set done.

He could go kill something like Diablos early though, and that would turn some ???? into valid recipes. But yeah, most of the time it's just shit you can't farm at all until the next zone.

Anyone using the bow heavily? I've decided on that as my backup ranged weapon for fights too annoying to use the charge blade. Not sure if I should be crafting all the different elements + dragon or if there's just one bow that's good enough to ignore the rest. Charge blade is simple; all the non-impact weapons are trash and Dear Lutemis is so good and unlocks so early that you pretty much don't have to upgrade it for like 30+ hours.

High rank armor has two sets, alpha and beta. Alpha Is a complete set with skills and no decoration slots. Beta doesn't have as many skills but has more decorations so you can customize within a set.

You'd be surprised how good some of the mixed sets can look. In previous games the strongest sets were typically a mix of 2 or 3 monster's armors. Hard to say if that will still be the case with set bonuses being in MHW but it is likely.

I have 4 bows at the moment; Kuku (Affinity, later Blast), Pulsar (Thunder), Anja (Fire), and Dragon. That seems to have everything covered.

Still learning Bow but it feels great to use. I use it as my backup to my Longsword but debating going full time with it. I just have the water and thunder ones for now but going to farm up the mats for the Anjanath one too.

I use the bow, it is amazing. The charge/dodge mechanic is awesome and the dodge into arrow spike that can mount is also really good. Can't wait to get high tier Legianas set.

Explain the Dash / Charge / Melle hit mechanic, I haven't been able to get those to work. I can dodge while Charging up, but not sure what to do right after the dodge itself. No idea how to get the melee spike to work other than jumping off a ledge.

Basically I wanted to see how long before the next blazing sword shield upgrade is available. Missing one item for it and that's ???. I'm very happy with the weapon. I proc fire, ice and lightning via armor and weap and that makes up for low damage. Otherwise megabombs.

End of dodge(while charging your shot) hit triangle, try to hit a spot that is normally high up but lower for some reason. Like lowered head or base of the tail, usually results in a mount.

Sliding charge hammer blow spin attack feels so good to pull off when you rail down the length of the monsters body, also usually results in a mount but that move sends you so high up it seems broken.

Managed an epic charge leap spin with the hammer off of a cliff onto the Paolumu into a mount. Then beat the shit out of that puffy bat fucker.

So satisfying.

Just saw some guy who has 60+ hours progress in and was surprised to see the amount of content that unlocks. I put 250-300 hours into MH:U and definitely see that repeating now.
