# Monsters & Memories Stress Test (March 22nd, 2025)

We will be holding an impromptu Stress Test this Saturday, March 22nd, 2025 at 1pm Eastern. (Local Time: <t:1742662800:F>

This is a Technical Stress Test, and there is lots of in progress work that may be unpolished, imbalanced, or broken. There is also the possibility of lag and other stability issues.

We'll be running a longer, more stable and polished playtest starting on April 11th, 2025 which will run through that weekend.

**Details**
- The purpose of this Stress Test will be to see where we're at currently with server stability
- There will only be one East Coast PvE server available
- The Stress Test will last a maximum of 4 hours (ending at 5pm Eastern)
- Characters from the previous test will be available
- If we run into stability issues, we may patch the game or, if absolutely necessary, end the playtest (with the hope of running another in the coming days or weeks after)

**RSVP Here:** Discord - Group Chat That’s All Fun & Games
## How To Register/Download Client

- Register an account and log in at <Monsters & Memories - Account Management>
- (If you already made an account in previous tests, just log in)
- Download the Patcher
- Make sure you're patched on the day of the test
- (Optional) Read up how to play on the Quick Start Guide <Quick Start Guide — Monsters & Memories>

We look forward to seeing you there!

Definitely more on the stress test side this go around. Checked out the kelethin type starting area once it got opened up. Doesn't seem like the noob quests are hooked in, it just has a row of trainers and vendors. But it does look great and the fps is better than night harbor for whatever reason (chars in zone seems likely)

There's far more talent and passion at the volunteer gang at Niche Worlds Cult the the entire team of paid developers at Darkpaw.

The noteworthy ominous castle in the distance is just really good design for any game. Whether the player realizes it or not, you have a goal.

The only neg I'll hit on is that, when I went exploring, it was unreachable. You could see it but never reach it no matter the path you took.

Hopefully they make it a real place and not just an instance.

If that spooky castle is just some environment piece and doesn't become a full fledged dungeon I would be legitimately fucking shocked.

Last time I asked them they said it was slated to be an instance (the first major dungeon IIRC), BUT...the game is not even in early access so that could change to become an accessible physical dungeon location with instance entrance.

The highest place you could reach was a ledge under that platform in the massive zone below it, there wasn't a cave system attached to that spire as far as I recall, so the entrance wasn't hidden under it. Finding the entrance wouldn't do anything anyhow other than teleport me randomly somewhere or disconnect / bug my client (Both of which is pretty par for the course in developing MMOs) since the location isn't in yet.

To the best of my knowledge they have no intentions of making any instanced content. Even housing is open world

Sorry, not "Instanced" in that multiple zones of it will exist but "Instanced" as in "will not be an open world location". It'll be something you have to zone into, but I couldn't find or reach a physical zone line attached to that castle location.

EDIT:

Man, even after writing that out it's still semi confusing. In my mind:

Open world==everything is reachable with either few or no zone lines.
instanced / zoned == the world is broken into segments that require a loading screen between each location / instance / zone.

For reference, I would consider MOST of wow to be "Open world" whereas Everquest and MnM fall in the "instanced" or "zoned" mentality.

Sure, once you are in the zone / instance you are with other people, generally. But each area is broken into a unique, segmented area away from other players.

So those are just zones. An instance is a zone that is created uniquely for an individual/group. Multiple instances of a zone can exist, but a zone is just a map/location and only a single one exists per server. These terms are not interchangable.
