when i came back from a 10 year break they gave me a new DCI number and locally insisted i'd use that
had the old & new numbers merged and got permission to use the old one via wotc / dci website

Heh, a small part of me still, to this day, doesn't fully appreciate how good that kind of card is. In hearthstone, there's a 5/5 for 4 mana that's really good in arena (limited) that I always have to talk myself into picking, cause it's drawback is it it mills you for 3 when you play a card. It's worth it for the tempo gained, and the milled cards are irrelevant, but it still always 'feels' bad

the agressive reprinting has convinced me to sell everything that is not reserved list and put the money in reserved list cards
at this point i'd rather have 500$ in reserved list then double that in standard or modern, since i intend to hold the cards and neither standard nor modern have a single card that looks like it will rise in value over time
even staples like Liliana of the Veil are decreasing in value, partly due to reprints and partly due to competition from Liliana the last hope, tarmogoyf value plummeted, ... this isn't a market i want to be in

Ive only been kind of paying attention lately to the pro scene, but im astounded vraska wasnt an auto include in any B/G/x deck immediately.
She kills practically anything while giving you mana, or makes 2/2s to block. Every base question we ask to decide if a planeswalker is 'good' was a yes on her. Does she protect herself? Yes, two ways. Does she have an impact on board immediately? Yes.
6 mana is a little high, so i figured shed just be 1x or 2x in most cases.
Point is, she didnt have a tricky ability that was hard to evaluate, such as the flip jace. Just surprised she took a bit to catch on.

6 mana scared people initially, as walkers in the 6 mana slot have been pretty bad lately (Sorin, Ajani). I was trading pretty aggressively for her early on to play in my token pile and after a couple runs with that deck you really realize how insanely powerful she is. Making a 2/2 and going to 8 loyalty is just such a mountain for the opponent to climb.
Pretty happy I wound up with 8 of her at least, probably try and unload 4 of them this weekend if she stays at ~25$.

Ajani was just pretty bad overall, especially for 6 mana, but the B/W sorin got played for awhile. I don't know exactly when it stopped being playable, somewhere between kaladesh and Ixalan the meta moved away from the kind of deck he fit in, but he wasn't a bad card. Plus, on the surface he seems more 'tricky' then vraska to evaluate. His +1 doesn't have an immediate impact, and his -X can't kill everything. Making a 2/2 or immediately destroying a permanent (most of them, anyway) while ramping 1 mana seems more obvious.
I can understand it not having a place if the meta was super fast, but midrange value decks have been big for awhile now.
