I think it's probably more likely they keep love, but what he says during this season doesn't really matter. What's he supposed to do? Tell his entire team he's leaving after this year?
Athletes are 100% honest about their feelings and motivations at all times, Slaythe.

Yeah and athletes 100% choose to take less money to go to a worse team. No one can pay him more than the Cavs. Sorry but the argument is just dumb.

You're right...we all forgot about that. And we all know that never in the history of sports has a player publicly stated he wants to stay with a team before contract negotiations, then left for another team.
Who? I can't think of anyone recently that did that. Actually, a more recent trend has been to just say I earned my right to be a free agent and I just want to experience the process. He's not even saying that. Plus can't the cavs offer him the most $$?

Stephen curry must only have 10pts cause Dellavedova is a dirty player lol. I'm sorry but if the Cavs were full force...

It's like you guys just started watching basketball in the last two months or something.

He can still get max money by doing a sign-and-trade. Another scenario is he takes a one year deal somewhere so he can re-up next year with the (assumed) larger salary cap. There are plenty of possibilities and reasons not to stay there...not to mention that Cleveland can't afford to pay Love, Irving, and LeBron max contracts while putting decent roleplayers around them (which was my main argument for why they should have kept Wiggins anyway). Just last season James said he "couldn't imagine" leaving Miami. Didn't he also take less money to go to Cleveland than what Miami could have given him?

You're right. He wants to be paid less, leave a team in the finals and the best player in the world for???
Because in absolute all likelihood, Love believes he's just as good, or at the very least good enough to be the best player on a championship team. Have you ever heard him talk? Or see how he mopes on the court when he isn't getting the ball?

I have to hand it to the Cavs fans I've run into because somehow the fan base seems to be a glass half full bunch of people, but you're crazy to think that Love isn't considering what playing in LA could mean for him.

Also, we can have a reasonable discussion about it. I don't think anyone here is saying it's likely he leaves Cleveland. I'm certainly not. I just followed Love long enough to know the type of person he is. He needs his ego stroked, and that will certainly happen in spades during free agency.

I'm not even a cavs fan. I'm a sixers fan. I just don't see love leaving Cleveland. He bought into the system by the time he got hurt.

And I agree the likely scenario is him staying there, but you can at least see the possibility of a player like Love, who desires attention, buying into what some team executives say to him during free agency. Not likely, not probably, just possible...right? I'm pretty sure that's all anyone that actually follows the league is saying here. Anyone arguing it's a sure thing he's gone is reading too much click bait, stating it just to express a controversial opinion, or dumb.

At this point it's so hard to not want the cavs to win the series. Nothing against GS. I just think LBJ pulling this out would be something we never forget as opposed to completely forgetting GS in a few years unless you're a homer.
