I know virtually NOTHING about Heyward. Is this guy really that good? Seems athletic enough, and a great shot. Can he create his own shot, or are we running screens and picks all day? Is he top 25? Top 10?

He's definitely not top 10. You could probably make a case for 30. He can create his own shot. He should take pressure off IT. He's a good, not great, defender.

He's also improved a lot since he came in the league. He definitely struggled a lot creating his own shot in his early years and his three was a lot less reliable. So, he's a hard worker.

Really can't ask for more than that I guess. Not a fan of the move for two reason really...It does not get you past Cleveland, nevermind GS. On top of that, it will take away from the kids time wise.

ESPN's NBA rank had him #34 at the beginning of this season, and after this year I imagine he is right at Top 25. Dude can play. Good offensive player, who plays solid defense. I think it's a fantastic get for them. The cream of the crop of either Tatum or Brown will rise and play along side him (it will be Tatum).

Yeah, doesn't really move the needle without an even bigger move. And they'd been trying to couple this with a big trade, but the options they were looking at are probably about all gone now.

They'll all get plenty of PT. Collecting SF's is fine in today's game since you can throw out lineups with 3 or 4 of em at a time. Jaylen Brown especially seems athletic and big enough that he'll be able to guard positions 1-4 at times.

Yeah, having too many wings is never a bad idea. And any time you can score a Top 30ish player, that's never a bad thing.

I don't think it puts them over the hump (Cavs), but it certainly makes them competitive. It wouldn't absolutely stun me if they could get past them, but I don't expect it with just this.

Yeah, this was a fantastic move by Boston. Got best FA available and a top 30 player. You really can't do much more, right? The EC finals was about as competitive as the championship and look at what Cleveland did to improve? Fire their GM? Celts wont win this year but LBJ is probably moving on and they got a guy that wants to be there instead of a George type acquisition who will be in LA next year anyways. They should be good for a few more years.

The bigger deal is that Horford and now Heyward have broken that stereotype that NBA stars won't sign in Boston. Before everything was draft or trade. Now big name guys are picking Boston. Huge.

The last time I heard about West he was roaming around high on drugs looking like he was homeless and was suffering from brain damage.

It just depends on how good the team is right now. Big markets are not the in thing anymore, it's all about rings.

Of course, now people are bitching that this is a bad thing

I agree bitching about it now is stupid considering the ONLY thing we measure superstars by is rings. Why is Lebron not as good as MJ? 3-5 vs 6-0. It's the first thing anyone arguing FOR Jordan will pull out. So who gives a shit that Jordan spent YEARS failing to even get to the finals against the Celtics / Pistons? HE GOT SIX!!! Well, don't blame players now for only chasing what everyone else says is so important.

Rudy Gay to The Spurs. Assuming he comes back from his injury that's a real good pickup for the midlevel exception.

No, he got Rodman to leave the Bad Boys and join the Bulls.

Of course, they were smarter back then and had Rodman do a stop in San Antonio first while Jordan played baseball to throw everyone off.
