Ok, legit shit here. It's over, and no fun now.
Luka is clearly an issue on defense, we know this. No lateral movement, and can't catch up on defense past the initial move or two. That's fine, that's who he is. Dallas knows this. We all know this.
Two problems. Unfortunately he constantly has to guard Brown, (Who is the MVP IMO of these finals) the most athletic player on the floor. Second does Kidd even teach these guys about weak side defense or even how to switch properly? Dallas is getting killed on high pick and rolls because of those two issues. Or drives on the baseline that should be stopped, but because the weak side is slow to respond, easy kick out buckets because the third man on the defense has to constantly help, leaving someone on the perimeter open. Boston of all the teams in the league, since maybe those GS runs is the best at creating/hitting these shots. Kidd is at fault there IMO.
You guys complaining about the fouls? Luka's game is about contact to give him the space, push the player down in the paint, or setup for that fadeaway, that he never seems to miss. How many times do you see him push off with that free arm to create space. You can't complain about the physicality, when your best player is the most physical person on the floor. He won't and can't get every call. Couple that with the insistent whining after every call whether he commits the foul or he feels he did not get a foul...
You're second best player is too short. Next.
BTW Boston HAS been called for more fouls than the Mavs in this series. Also that Luka foul that he fouled out on? Was his feet set? No? Then it's a foul. If you argue that Brown initiated contact, then you must not like Luka's game. That's exactly what he does.
Dallas's role players are good, minus they can't score. (And seem to be confused on what team defense is). Granted EVERY role player on Dallas is out gunned by Boston's role players, I'll gladly take either of your bigs for Al Horford. You forget he's out there until he hits a three. He clearly can't move well enough at his age to play defense consistently.
So lets see. This is THREE super stars that have played with Luka. What should Dallas do? Is Luka a good enough draw a third star on this current team (that isn't tainted in some way). I'm doubting it. Not because he can't ball, but because can others ball with him? Kyrie IMO is a great fit, but now you need to make up for two big defensive holes. What third star wants to deal with that? Good role player though? How good is the Dallas GM?
Don't thank Milwaukee. Thank Brad Steven's for getting rid of the most over rated point guard in the league. Marcus Smart. No matter what anyone tells me, getting that guy outta town turned this thing around. No more chucking up shots you know you can't hit. No more ball in his hands, knowing he will HOLD it when you have Tatum and Brown.
Jrue Holiday. If getting rid of Smart was the best move? Somehow getting Jrue was the clear second. Milwaukee's saw the age and the slight dip in his game (due to injuries), and thought he was expendable. Bad move. GREAT move! Thanks! Though Boston is now stuck with a tough choice on signing him. I would, knowing that in a couple years he's an anchor. But you're window IS a couple years, so sign him knowing you will be on the short side of his contract come year three?
The ease of the Celtics playoff run? Ya. Can't deny that. The East is weak. You may have had to play a couple more games, but there was no doubt they were getting here. The championship? Nope! We thank Minnesota there for knocking out Denver!
One more game baby! Then Ric Flair makes an appearance! Woooooooooo!
