...so the league and media can refocus on what's more important.

Like Boston.

I don't follow draft prospects or anything like that but from what I've read it seems kind of crazy this French guy was number one. Young, yeah, but he was a role player on the teams he was on. He doesn't seem to be a huge playmaker, wasn't an amazing shooter, and his physical attributes are nothing outstanding. Compare that to somebody like Luka or Wembanyama and he doesn't seem in their league. The gamble for potential I could see elsewhere in the lottery but #1? What am I missing? Was it just a weak draft class?

Well, all of the Nuggets, Clippers, Pelicans, and Warriors getting appreciably worse this off season should make the west less of a shit show next season.

OKC, Dallas, Minnesota, Phoenix, Houston, and Sacramento look like the top 6 squads next year, unless the Lakers somehow land Klay without gutting their roster. If Dallas lands him though and OKC grabs Hartenstein that’s gonna be an awesome WCF battle.

The east is getting much much more interesting. Philly, New York, and Orlando all added firepower to take a shot at Boston. Those efforts are probably futile, but who knows how things will go depending on health this year. I’m hoping immaculate vibes in NY propel them into the ECF this year because that squad has so much chemistry and is fun to root for. Unless Embiid loses some weight they’re a second round exit. Those knees may as well be made of cheesesteak at this point.

I don’t know what happened here, but Naji Marshal is a solid pickup to replace him. Absolute dog of a defender that will smother his man full court, and a better shooter and playmaker than DJJ. Dallas will lose some verticality and transition scoring from Jones, but I think this is overall better for that squad.

I’m guessing Jones didn’t want to come off the bench behind Klay, and once he caught wind it was bye bye.

Man, looking at some of these deals, the NBA is really the best league for players. A guy who has been in the league sixyears and last year averaged 25 minutes with 8 points/rebounds a game is going to make $29 million a year.

Dude. Klay even good any more? He even a top 10 shooting guard? Or, are you going on memberberries?

I see this a lot and I just don’t get it. 45% from above the break on open 3s… 41% off screen movement 3s which leads the league last year… the guy is still a monster and a top 5 movement shooter in the league.

Is he still good enough to be a number 2 option making $45mil per year? Definitely not. But is he now one of the most elite 3rd options in the league? Every day of the week.

I'm moderately happy about Klay, we'll see. I'm actually much more intrigued by Grimes and Naji and think both could slot in really well. Naji in particular is an absolute menace, so hoping that energy and grit translates into next years playoffs. If Klay can shoot 38% or more from three next season, Dallas is a notch better than this years team with these moves. If he doesn't, we're about the same imo. THJ might as well have not even been on the roster, I hate losing DJJ & Green but think Grimes & Marshal are about an even trade, then adding Klay as a wildcard to replace the black hole of Timmy.

Lifelong Mavs fan checking in!!...

But seriously, I will be rooting for Klay in Dallas, forever respect for the guy, and maybe one of my top 5 favorite Bay Area athletes all time to watch play. Forever fuck Danny Green for the dirty finals play that ended Klay's time as an elite player. Klay was outplaying Kawhi in that game the Warriors were winning when it happened and they had a shot to beat the Raps even without KD until that moment.

Klay's biggest issue now is that too often he refuses to acknowledge when he doesn't have it going, and just keeps chucking bad shots. I can handle him taking an open 3 any day, I'm talking about dribble in or turnaround 15 footers. In general, I guess thats what great shooters do - just keep chucking with no consience, but he needs better shot selection and a totally new system and cast of teammates will hopefully help with that. Needs a coach that gives him less of a leash than Kerr although even the Warriors demoted him to the bench for a while when he was stinking it up. And btw when they did that he was balling and that's about the time they started playing really well.

Bottom line, still has the ability to get 30 once in a while, but expect quite a few stinkers mixed in. Led the league in made 3's two years ago, led the league in FT% last year - the shot is still there but he needs better shot selection.

I hope he does more than just spread the floor and launch about 10 corner 3's a game. But, that is probably all they will need him to do.

Klay was the only Warrior I liked, probably because I grew up watching his Dad. I also liked that (pre-injury) he was one of if not the best two way player in the league. I was hoping he ended up with the Lakers so I could root for them again. Klay on the Lakers would have allowed me to overlook LeBron, but I just can't be a Lakers fan again until LeBron retires.
