Yea I have never seen mass bannings during a beta since those were intended in every other game to you know, find and exploit these kinds of things which devs didnt care about since it was, you know, beta and all and that was what the testing was for.

Cryptic is shit. I played the shit out of the CoX games and it took them years sometimes to fix broken abilities or even publicly acknowledge they were broken. Which is why I don't expect them to change their colors all of a sudden and fix the retarded class compositions in this game. End game with 2/5 of their classes (including tanks) not even wanted in an ideal group setup? Great game, really, bravo.

Couple things. First, if a machine is broken and you keep playing it and winning a ton money you are not breaking any laws and you will not go to jail. They can not pay you the winnings if they prove the machine was broken and will kick you out if you do something like counting cards, but the police will not be involved and they have no grounds to sue you.
Not sure if it has been decided yet, but wasn't there a trial in the US about someone exploiting a bug in a poker machine?

Imagine that I exploit a bug in a server that belongs to a bank and transfer money to my account a bunch of times. Would I end up in jail? Most likely. How big is the difference between that and exploiting a bug in a game server if both cases result in me making real money and the bank/game company losing money? Coming up with enough evidence could be pretty hard though.

But didn't they invite you to come "Test" their "stuff" for free and they(the company) repeatedly state its still on going "testing"?

Guys, this is Cryptic we're talking about here. I'm honestly surprised everything has gone as well as it has! Massive game-breaking exploits, bugs, and shitty customer service with permanent rollbacks? Sounds like they're moving on up and making some progress in the industry.

Good point! Yeah, who would have imagined that people would be so generous as to spend real money in the "open beta" to "test" their cash shop and to "test" that their founder packs works properly?!

Yeah, sorry, I had vaguely recalled some charges had been dismissed, but was expecting that to be an update in the main article, and I didn't spot the followup article right away.

@Thcomi we're continuing to balance all classes, including GF and GWF. Thanks for your feedback!

I am pretty sure 'continuing' can only legitimately be used after you START doing something...

Refers to a type of variable. An integer is just that, an integer. So 42 but not 42.0655 etc. An unsigned variable means that 42 is a valid entry into that variable but -42 is not.

Imagine that you are doing math by spinning a wheel where the wheel is numbered 0 to 255. You look at the number '42' and starting at 0 spin the wheel 42 spaces clockwise and are at... 42. If however you spin the wheel 42 spaces counter clockwise (due to allowing a mathematical operation on a presumed positive number) you end up at 213 which is entirely the wrong value.

Now imagine if the maximum instead of being 255 is 100million...
From what I understand, the above programing Faux pas is not what actually happened.

From what I've been told, the system simply didn't check and block negative bids, but did the rest of the math assuming it was a valid number.

"Hello computer, I bid -100,000 for this cloth_cap_01"
"Hello human, I see your bid. To confirm your bid: I will subtract negative 100,000 from your account to sell you the cloth cap. Let me enter it into the database.... Accepted. Here is your money, I hope you win the auction!"

LOL simply amazing stupidity if true.

This does make me wonder what and/or if some type of xkcd "Bobby Tables" attack would work. There are plenty of things you can name/rename.

Heh.

Hit 30 last night on my cleric. Forgemasters makes things a bit easier for solo play with it's heals. The Healing Words encounter was useless.

Forgemasters is one of the two main heals. I keep waiting for the other "healing" spells to actually function.

BTW. Beware inside instances with PUGs... I rolled on a Rogue chestpiece in one and was the only Need roll but someone in the grp was not rolling... it seemed he was trying to wait until people left the instance to roll and thus possibly winning the roll by default.

( not sure if this works this way but be careful gents ).

Being able to roll need on non-class items seems like such an old school problem, it's weird they didn't address it here.
Especially since armor and weapons are app specific to a SINGLE class. Not even any of the old "Pallys and warriors both use plate" nonsense. Seems like a massive oversight, then again... you could enter negative bids in the on line auction house until around 48 hours ago
