Yeah £40 and no sub is a great selling point and even though I’m burning out around lvl 40 I’m almost 50 hours in and no regrets at all. If they ”finish” the leveling experience down the road all the better but I just have no real desire to grind to 60. Perhaps they could have made 50 the cap allowing more time to polish up to that point.. not sure. Either way, 40 bucks was nothing for the amount of content you get at launch

Im 47 now and still tons to do. 2 zones 45-50 and 40-50 I have not touched yet. Only thing that really sucks like I tuched on before is the rerspawn times and the elite quests are way over the top. I can understand they want you to group though so there is that, but some of these elete monsters they want you to kill hit you for like 2K and im fully heavy armor and mostly specced into con. thats like 3-4 hits and im done lol. One I tried to do when I was 10 lvls higher and same shit. I ran away like a little bitch.

Looking at the map what they really lack is the 50-60 range zones, there is only one. Oh wait, there is two....

Still enjoying this mostly, but man it feels pretty incomplete in the late 30's onward - particularly the leveling and questing experience. Like there wasn't enough testing done on story quest xp etc. Just feels extremely grindy and I can't imagine the majority of the 700k players in the game will make it past level 40. Could be wrong here, and maybe that's what people are looking for but for me its becoming decidedly less fun the higher I go. Again, feels like it's just flat out incomplete in some ways and maybe they'll continue working to smooth at the experience.
Yeah, it's become SUPER grindy post 40. I will say I made some custom starmetal armor, and it's fucking legit. Not only does it look way better than anything that's dropped for me so far, but even with a required level of 33ish, they're better than the stuff dropping at level 43. Like, the item level is about 400 vs 430 for the dropped stuff, but the stats are just significantly better.

That’s another thing - the faction gear is pretty meh and the crafting ranges for stuff just seems way out of line for your character level. By the time you unlock a lot of it, you’ve outleveled it

The dungeons needing corrupted shards is also fucking stupid, so dungeons post Armine seem to get virtually no interest because you have to craft the key vs getting one for free for unlocking it. Like holy shit, just let players get 1 free orb per day and if they want to spam run, then force crafted shit. The whole mechanism feels like it was intended to be some p2w RMT feature and they forgot to change it after people made them back down on the RMT stuff.

I just get a lil drunk and a lil high and run around farming shit in 30 minute spurts. I think I've got a poopsock weekend either this weekend or next when my family goes out of town for 3 days, so we'll see how I'm feeling after that I guess.
New world is "fine", but I still say the Valheim experience was a lot more fun and less "safe" feeling than New World. Its unfortunate that its the same thing that makes it hard to play now, because I can't randomly afk or log out as easy in Valheim.

Yeah, the amount of resources to craft a key is completely out of whack.

I've run probably 4-5 hours of portals, and I've probably got enough of the shards (the t1 ones) to make 4 Amrine keys. Add in the motes and whatever else, and it's a complete non-starter. Essentially any dungeon that's not end game would be a waste of resources to craft.

Problem with the crafting in this game is that it takes way too much work gathering and shit. Just look at the recipe for a T4 bag, Ive been killing gators non stop and only scored a few of those scale things. And I even have some 3.2% skinning hat I put on. Same shit with armor, it takes such a huge amount of resources to level up is it really worth it? something liek 30K iron raw to go from 100=150 or some shit, and thats not even counting the other mats like star metal etc....

Sure it look sexy as hell but is it worth? Im sure the higher tiers 500+ will require some obscure rare ass shit you have to go to some elite place to get. Plus the way the loot drops in this game like candy, based on your ilevel that crafted armor you took 10 hours to make better be the shit.

THe real test will be the endish game armor ilvl 580-600 you can craft. They better have it such that crafted shit beats out all others the amount of grind it takes to get to 200.

Fun fact:

it takes 4 iron per ingot
3 iron ingots per steel (12 iron ore)
2 steel ingots per starmetal (24 iron ore)
2 starmetal ingots per orichalcum ingot (68 iron ore)

Some tools take as much as ~15 ingots per craft. So you're looking at almost 1000 iron ore per item attempt. This is pretty gnarly, but once you get the skills up and the right tools and gear you can get 100-200 iron ore per large node. Still bit of a truck, but if you know a good spot with several nodes you can get thousands and thousands of ore within 30 minutes. Then you need to make sure you've got the +encumb bags with ore modifier so you can carry all of it.

The REAL shitty part isn't even the raw components. It's the "found" components. Each ingot you're making steel+ is taking flux so you're looking at 6 flux per ingot of orichalcum. The good news is the higher level fluxes (green, blue etc) give you bonus yield so you can smelt 10 starmetal bars and get 13-15 back pretty easily. Definitely helps when you're doing the higher level stuff because it's literally saving you THOUSANDS of ore per combine.

With steel tools right now and mining at 115 or so I get about 36 from a large iron depot. I got my skinning at 200 and get 19 leathers from a geranimal. So its not that much more

I work from home and since I have to be next to my work PC all day, I'm playing New World constantly. I'm at like 80 hours. Not sure how much of that was queue and afk though, probably no more than 10 hours.

And the T4 bag, you can combine the T3 leather things to make em. Needs 100 leather working. I've made two (one to sell, since I ended up saying fuck it and buying like 1k gold of rawhide).

Ya, nothing hard about the T4 Bags. Ive made 3 of them for myself, and I'm selling Layered Leather for 45g/p at the moment. Cupcaek told me one of the bags I made for myself was selling for 10k gold, but I have f'k all reason right now to try hard for gold. Shit just comes way to easy. I may - sell the T5 bags, however. Cause I havent even came close to filling up my bag space now.

The one thing I wanted them to fix was the fast respawns. Instead, the closest thing I saw was where they decreased spawn times for an area. Motherfucker... lol

Oh and one more thing, Edengrove - the entire zone - is gorgeous. Take the SE corner of Blightwood and magnify it by 10 times.

A lot of things feel like relics from when the game was forced PVP. They don't want people to just hide in an instance grinding out to max level from 25-60, so they add a resource cost that involves doing a bit of everything out in the world (faction coins, corruption shards, gathering). After being 'forced' to add PVE elements, they just forgot to change things. All of the changes during development just make some of the ideas confused.

There are also cool features that would be fun for pvp people if they were in a forced pvp game. Resource collection making a huge amount of noise, etc. Thing is, you can literally never flag and go 1-60 with zero pvp.

It was neat watching the streams of the wars tonight for Everfall and Brightwood. I actually felt invested, even as a pve shitter, since I grew accustomed to us controlling those zones and spent the lion's share of my time in those zones so far. Not sure how each faction doesn't eventually just end up with a perma group of the best 50 pvpers handling most of the wars though. Would suck to be the smaller guild who loses Everfall because you decided to invite your cousin Steve and his wife to the war instead of the permagroup pvpers.
