Can anyone with more knowledge about Texas Grand Jury Laws please attempt to explain the rules behind the Grand Jury? I'm no expert on criminal law, so I was wondering if there is precedent for a minor felony to have multiple Grand Juries like in this case. The first Grand Jury did not indict him, but the second one months later did. According to the local sports guy who spoke with Adrian today, being indicted was a fairly big shock to him, the team and the league. I'm under the impression everyone thought he was cleared of the charges already, and that the NFL has known about the investigation for months.

Edit: Turned himself in at 1:06am, posted $15,000 bond and was released at 1:35am.

They probably brought forth more evidence or altered the charges from the first hearing. I think we have a prosecutor trying to make a name for themselves in the wake of the Rice nonsense.

And those pics are apparently taken a week after the incident
This just got glossed over here. That kid got pretty fucked up to have it look like that a week later.

Someone mentioned AP's retard strength. He's notorious for having a crushing handshake, one that goes beyond firm to being painful.

I dunno, he definitely whooped the kids ass worse than necessary, but he also seems to recognize that. Going forward I imagine he'd lighten up a little and not beat his kids until their bloody and their nuts are bruised, and the kid will probably listen the first time he tells him something. So lessons learned all around. Baby mama needs to make it clear that shit is not alright, but getting authorities involved is probably too much. Unless this has happened before.

The debate this is going to cause will be...interesting.

The local news stated that, the kid was given an initial whooping after purposely scratching a 5 year old across the face. Later in the week, the child pushed another kid off of a video game motorbike (the large motorbike controllers you sit on at an arcade.) That led to the more severe whooping. The Mother had scheduled a doctors appointment for the child before the incident occurred, which Peterson knew about, and allowed the child to get on a plane and return home a day or two early to make the appointment. The doctors not the mother, decided to bring it to the authorities. I think they said the time table was 1-2 days after the second whooping, not a week like initially reported.

I also had to chuckle at the images TMZ released, they look to have a red hue added to them, and are posted on a red background to make the injuries stick out. I've seen some of the other pictures from other sources out there and they are far less "alarming" and "raw" looking. Dude definitely went a little overboard here, but I don't think he went in with the intent to cause the injuries on the front of the thigh.

Here is a link to a story with video where you see what appear to be images that aren't doctored.

Wow, you guys are something else. Yeah the kid's probably a little hood rat shitbag already, but he's got a deadbeat millionaire baby daddy and some golddigging stripper mom, doesn't hardly have a chance in the first place. Still you're defending putting that kind of hurt on a fucking four year old? No that's bullshit. He doesn't know his own strength? He didn't really mean it and he's sorry? Who else in the world is going to get away with those excuses? How about don't fucking whip a toddler until he's bleeding or we as a society will lock your brutish ass up? Oh, he attacked other kids? HOLY FUCK BATMAN I WONDER WHERE SUCH A YOUNG CHILD COULD HAVE LEARNED TO HANDLE HIS FRUSTRATIONS WITH VIOLENCE, WHAT A MYSTERY!!!!

But you're going to white knight Janay Rice while defending this dude forchild abuse?Fuck man, you all have some nerve calling this assault "doing the right thing".

Gotta agree. 4 is really too young for anything more than a spanking. Acting like he's a teenage thug who needs respect beaten into him is ridiculous.

He's not a toddler and I don't think anyone's claiming that AP did the right thing or that he didn't go overboard on the punishment. They're saying it's fucking stupid that he's being indicted by a grand jury for felony child abuse chargers from it. He's obviously not much of a dead beat if he's got this kid living at his house over the summertime. He's not like Karl Malone who hates his other kids and actively tries to avoid them. The dude's just trying to make sure his kid grows up to be a good person the only way he knows how because that's how he was taught.

and fuck the people white knighting Janay Rice too, I've seen some stupid fucks talking about how she was "BRUTALLY ASSAULTED". No she fucking wasn't, the bitch took a punch, a single punch and was perfectly fine later that night. You want to see someone who was brutally assaulted, take a look at Christy Mack. There's an actual case of domestic abuse.

Yes, how stupid to indict someone on felony charges when they have committed a felonious act of violent aggression against another human being. These fucking liberal SJW's and their feel good felony laws are ruining the nation I say.

Except it wasn't.

FAMILY CODE CHAPTER 261. INVESTIGATION OF REPORT OF CHILD ABUSE OR NEGLECT

The kid had his but whipped, there was never any threat of harm to him. He didn't get beat up, punched, kicked, or had injuries that even needed medical attention. The doctors visit was something that his mother had planned months prior and the kid actually returned home early from AP's home to go to it.

This case is a direct result of the media sensitivity that has result from Ray Rice's video. If that video doesn't come out, AP isn't indicted, and fathers everywhere don't have to worry about punishing their children.

I'm curious.. I'm not a parent so I don't know. How should he have handled this situation with his kid? From what I understand, he took a more passive route prior to this point. Which didn't work. Is this more about physically punishing a child than it is about how he did it? I think more kids need to get beat when they fuckup! Kids are bad and getting worse!!

Thank you Perry Mason, but I think I'll count on the judicial system to decide that.
They already did decide on it the first time and didn't indict him.

Then they saw what happened to the people in-charge of the Ray Rice case, where they're all having their heads called for and asking them to resign or be fired so now they're covering their asses by re-viewing the case and actually charging him.
As much as you don't want to admit it " These fucking liberal SJW's" are ACTUALLY the cause of this being escalated.

We need Cad in here, he even practices in Texas, however I don't think bringing the indictment a second time is at all unusual but I don't know the in's and out's of how that happens.

I can't find the article again right now, but AP also seems to have threatened to punch the kid in the face if he told on him for whipping him and kid told police that he feared being punched in the face by "daddy Peterson". Still say this doesn't match the criteria for the charge? That's abuser behavior, not discipline. Stop defending people who would consider punching a four year old in the face.

How many times were you beat as a child, Famm?
Oh shit, you got me, its all just a personal vendetta. We should give AP a medal and buy him a whip with metal barbs in case that pesky kid needs some lessons come kindergarten time. Father of the year award!
