Yeah when I wrote my original post I didn't see those pictures. He went way overboard. I believe in the power if the wooden spoon. But that was pretty bad. And he is 4. If a kid is misbehaving a knock or two on the ass is fine. But those pictures show something else. I also agree the kid doesn't stand a chance. Sucks.

Also if what he punished him for is true, it still is overboard. He should have just hit his ass with the stick and only his ass. I would condone that obviously. Especially if the little fucker is suffocating another kid with a pillow. But then you have to wonder what the hell is going on with his stripper mom. And AP needs to fucking keep it in his pants and be a real father so the kid gets attention.

A switch is not a pants on type of corporal punishment implement. Unless the kid was wearing something like linen pants or the switch itself was fairly thick (making it more of a rod). Those marks are pretty severe for a switch, especially for them being a couple of days old. You don't have to put a lot of force behind a switch for it to hurt like hell. Like I said before, the worst whippings I ever had were from one, and they were from my mom. You don't have to put any arm strength into using one, just wrist action. If a man his size was drawing back and swinging with his arm, then that's more than should be inflicted on any kid, much less a 4 year old. He should have used a belt or better yet his hand, so he could guage just how hard he was hitting him.

From what I've read it is going to be really hard for Texas to get a conviction out of this case against Peterson because they are one of the only states that have a "discipline" clause in their negligent child abuse laws. Meaning that using discipline as a defense is common. The prosecution will have to prove that he caused the injuries without purpose or outside the act of what is considered reasonable discipline. Peterson will probably take full responsibility for the minor injuries on the child, while defending himself under this discipline clause.

Edit: Just watched the brief presser with a DA from Texas speaking. Law enforcement and the district attorneys office is opening an investigation into who leaked the case information, which is a felony in child abuse cases in the state of Texas. It can also be a defense for dismissal. He also stated that any trial won't happen until next year.

So does the NFL suspend Adrian Peterson? If so for how long?

I can't ever recall a time I was whipped with a switch, that my pants were removed we got whipped with whatever we happen to be wearing at the time.
