I kind of want to the Titans to clean house and hire Rex just so the team will be interesting for the next few years.

well when they draft Marcus Mariota, Titan's fans had better hope they have a coach who can handle and develop young QBs.

Rex Ryan? mmmm... probably the exact opposite of a functional QB coach. Great at a lot of things, that's not one of them.

In a perfect world Watt would be MVP. I love that Romo is in the conversation but I read an article that said something like 9 QBs had over 30 TDs this year, which shattered the previous record at 5 in a year. Then I dug into the stats of it a bit more when it came to QBs.

* 11 had over 4k yards (and Flacco missed it by 14 yds).
* Of those that had more than 300 passing attempts this year, 10 had more than 65% completion rate.
* 12 had a yards per completion of more than 7.5.
* While only 4 have passer ratings over 100, 8 had ratings over 95.

The same article pointed out that at the top of the heap, aside from names you can't really distinguish one QB from another. Meanwhile, Watt has clearly distinguished himself apart from every other DE in the league, and as a 3-4 DE on top of that.

Watt should get it, but he won't. Rodgers will get it, despite him and Romo having nearly identical years, merely because the media has an obsession over Rodgers. My vote would be Watt #1 and Romo/Rodgers as a tie for #2.

Like I've said before - in a year without adefinitiveoffensive performance, if Watt doesn't get it, you may as well just call it the Offensive Player of the Year Award 2.0. Then again, it has basically always been the Offensive Player of the Year 2.0 award. Only 2 defensive players haveeverwon it.

Listening to the radio yesterday two of the people were voters for MVP. One is absolutely voting for Rogers and the other is considering Watt but is not decided. Both agreed Rogers will get it. It was kind of infuriating.

I think what frustrates me about it is this line:

RankTeamTotal YardsYards Per GamePassingPass Per GameRushingRush Per GameTotal PointsPoints Per Game

7Dallas6122382.63768235.52354147.146729.2

Many in the media shrug off Romo's season as a byproduct of the people around him and their offensive approach. At the same time they're pretending Rodgers is doingeverythinghimself. Last I checked having a good run game (and nearly 120 ypg certainly qualifies) is just as important to offensive success as his abilities as a QB. That's not to detract from what Rodgers has done, but you can't realistically speak about Romo in one way and Rodgers in a completely different way when they had extremely similar seasons with the primary difference being the amount of yards they threw for and the TD:Int ratio.

That's offense. Total yards, ypg, pass, pypg, rush, rypg, total points, ppg.

Pretty much. Everyone arguing for Rodgers over Romo seem to think Romo has the best RB, WR, and offensive line in football. Obviously the pro-bowl should be the Cowboys offense vs AFC defense.

This right here will win him the award. Not to mention, nearly 30 more rushing yards per game is a pretty significant difference. Romo is having a good season, but you can't sit here with a straight face and say it's objectively better/as good as Rodgers. It's close, but Rodgers has nearly 700 more yards, 4 more TDs, and 5 less INTs. And this is supposedly with having the "greatest" WR in the game on his team.

The point I'm mostly trying to make is that Rodgers didn't clearly have "the best" year out of any player in the league at his position. Romo beat him in a few categories, including QBR, Completion %, and yards per attempt. This is a far cry from 2011 when he was very clearly the absolute best player in the NFL.

680 more passing yards, 4 more passing TD, 5 fewer INT, and 269 rushing yards for 2 TD vs. 21 for none.

Romo had a great year, but that's not identical. If you said he had an identical year to Brady you'd have an argument. And until the last week or so Brady was getting a lot more love than Romo for MVP because he's Brady.

Spot on about them all being sort of interchangeable this year though. Even going in toadvanced statsthere'snot much differencebetween the top 6-7. Though Rodgers is still the top.

Watt absolutely should be the MVP.

Beckham isn't on the Cowboys bro.
You mean Brown? You know, 129 catches, 1700 yards, 13 touchdowns, 85 first downs, all on a division winner? That WR.

Beckham scares the shit out of me. One of those guys who just needs the ball in his general vicinity in order to haul it in. Eli's a pretty pedestrian QB by most standards but even he can't fuck that up.
He's fucking ludicrous. Also another example that you don't need to be 6'5" to be that kind of receiver.

I mean we'll see if Beckham stays healthy and productive. I can't even imagine the shit he would pull if you paired him up with a top 5 QB instead of Eli.

I think if Watt's team had made it to the play offs he probably would have gotten it but its hard to argue for somebody being the most valuable player on a team that is not even in the playoffs. He may have played awesome D but it was not impactful enough for them to win enough games.

Why is why it's going to be somewhat criminal when Rodgers wins.

This is the same bullshit that goes into the Super Bowl MVP discussion. Dallas still has the only winner from a losing team (Chuck Howley) and that'll never change because of some unspoken rule that permeates the voters that says the MVP has to be from the winning team. In Super Bowl 25 Thurman Thomas was far and away the best player on the field but it was Otis Anderson who won MVP because of that bullshit.
