The more I think about it, the more comfortable I am with the Bears signing Cutler. Last year was the most high powered offense in the Bears history. The only team that scored more points than they did were the Broncos. Yeah, he isn't the greatest quarterback and he wont air it out for 300+ yards each game, but the offense isn't the problem in Chicago. Cutler offers them stability and reliability.
Their offseason focus in terms of free agency and draft should be 100% focused on shoring up that god awful defense. Almost every pick in the draft should be a defensive player. Can't be any worse than what we got already.

I feel like it would have been a much harder decision if McCown wasn't 34 years old. Moving on from Cutler and knowing they'd have to hit a home run on another QB in one of the next few drafts probably led to some ball shriveling in Chicago.

There's too many teams with QB needs for Manziel to go into freefall. Minnesota, Tampa Bay, Browns, Oakland (are they ever NOT on the list), Houston, Jacksonville, and Tennessee all either need a QB or need to seriously look at drafting one. Make no mistake, Dallas will need to draft a QB here soon because Romo isn't getting younger and back problems like his don't just magically disappear, but it won't be Manziel and it won't be this year.

Just on first look without looking up stats I'd say Greene, Haley, Walter Jones, and John Lynch should probably be in. Harrison should but his off field stuff will hold him back. Aaaand, I seem to recall Derrick Brooks being an absolute animal for 3-4 years down in Tampa. Tackling monster that got multiple picks every year, but I can't honestly say if he was dominant for long enough.
The fact Greene hasn't made it in yet is ridiculous, he was a sack machine for years and years. Double digits for at least 8-9 seasons. Haley wasn't as spectacular but he was a key part of FIVE Super Bowl winners and did it at 2-3 different positions.

Brooks is 7th all time in tackles and the 2002 season when they won the sb he had 5 picks, 3 for TDs and 1 fumble return for a TD. For whatever its worth he also was elected to 11 pro bowls. If you consider a guy like london fletcher a future hof guy i'd say brooks is.

4-5 great seasons and Brett Favre taking a dive does not a Hall of Famer make. If you're going to be a one-trick pony like him you better do it consistently.
Yeah he was the anchor of those great TB defenses too. Really he's a better candidate than his teammate Lynch, especially with all the pussified safety concerns now. A headhunter like Lynch might lose some traction because of that. And really that's his whole calling card, he wasn't some game changing cover safety there like a Rod Woodson or Ed Reed type. He dropped the hammer, and if that doesn't get the appreciation it once did he's pretty much boned.
Marvin Harrison is one of the best WRs of all time and has great numbers to back it up. Living in the TB area I've heard a ton about how deserving Tony Dungey is because he was the first African American coach to win the Super Bowl..... He always came off as pretty mediocre to me and I'm saying that as a Colts fan.

All true, and I believe the NFL voters are told to only consider on the field performance. Doesn't matter, he killed a guy or had him killed. After previous trying to kill him or have him killed. Michael Irvin didn't get in first ballot entirely due to being a scumbag off the field, Harrison will get the same treatment.
All a theory, like Jameis Winston, no charges were filed... I'm not saying he did or didn't do it but to hold something like that against him when no charges were filed is stupid.

Yeah, I'm confused how he made it over Don Coryell. I don't even understand how the fuck Coryell isn't in the HOF? That one is baffling.

I don't feel like looking it up, but he was pretty consistent for a lot of years, from what I recall. My thing, when talking about whether someone should be in the HoF, is if I can say you were a top player in the game and the top player at your position. I don't feel like Bettis was ever the best RB in the NFL. And for a Hall of Fame to mean something, I think you need to limit it to just the elite. All the guys I posted were either the best at their position or 2nd best at their position for 5+ years and still really good (Top 10) outside their prime windows.
