NFL fans have the memory of a goldfish. One bad game and suddenly the team is awful.

I don't know. Bengals schedule is tough next year. CAR, DEN, @NE, @NO, @IND. Then we also have ATL and HOU who surely should have bounceback seasons. Not to mention what will likely be improved Ravens and Steelers teams. Bengals won't likely have Texans/Falcons level of collapse, but I can see them missing playoffs with a record around .500 (maybe a little better) - especially if Zimmer leaves.

Or Bengals will go 13-3, lock up a bye, and lose immediately with an embarrassing score of 37-14 or something. That's a much more appropriate ending to the season.

The division is not going to be as easy for you as it was this year either. Pittsburgh came on strong in the second half and Baltimore will have retooled and reloaded in places. Even the Browns have potential to give everyone problems in the division record. You're like the Texans in that way, you had a window and didn't capitalize on it and now its probably going to close.

At least we didn't dole out a shitty contract to Dalton. Yet.

I wouldn't say the window is closed. Almost every good player is locked up for some time and the team is young as fuck. Jermaine Gresham is one of the older guys on offense he's 25. I'm more worried about how much the defense could regress without Zimmer. I doubt we'd get the production we had out of Adam Jones without him as a coach.

If someone ends up with Zimmer, I'll be super pissed. Redskins got the wrong Bengals coordinator.
He's coming to Minnesota for a second round of interviews soon here. The media up here think it's pretty close to a done deal.

Apart from his tendency to abandon the run, I think Gruden is a pretty innovative play caller and good at developing an offensive philosophy that matches his personnel. His problem tends to be sticking to that. I think RG3 will progress in his offense, but the problem he's had with Dalton is he has progressed but not matured.

He doesn't seem to have that innate ability to pull the absolute best out of his guys like Zimmer though. I don't think it's a bad coaching hire, but Zimmer is a great candidate. I also don't think Zimmer would have worked in D.C. at all though. I think Synder's inability to handle Zimmer's straight talk would have been even more dysfunctional relationship than Shanahan's.

So the NFL isn't going to let Deion suit up for the Pro Bowl. Considering the Pro Bowl is about to go away I would think they would welcoming some publicity like that. I might actually tune in if I knew that Deion Sanders would be lining up to play some man coverage on Jerry Rice.

Oh man, a real Senior Bowl. What's Joe Montana doing?

I want to see the Pro Bowl just turn into a QB Challenge/Skill competition between all of the probowlers. Make the RB/WR/DBs compete in a 100 yard dash against each other, make the QBs do a skills challenge with hitting targets and crap, make the lineman do a mini strongman competition, etc.

Id be 1000% more likely to watch that than the actual probowl football game.

They used to do that. Not sure why they don't anymore, or maybe they do and just don't televise it?

I know they do some retarded crap with like celebrities, but I could care less about watching them play flag football or whatever the fuck they do.

Can't believe Caldwell got another HC job. You can't even tell he's living person on the sidelines, just wierd.

Pretty sure Detroit is looking for a HC who can get some sort of orderliness to the locker room. He apparently came with glowing recommendations from Dungy and numerous players who were under him with the Colts as being a guy who can do that. Not saying its the right move, but that's what I'm reading.

Of course it also seems like he's the second choice to Whisenhunt.

Don't have to worry about the lions next year. A glowing recommendation from dungy is the kiss of death.

They stopped doing it 5-6 years ago for some reason. I always thought that was more entertaining than the pro bowl. You'd have things like seeing what qb could throw the furthest, kickers could kick the furthest, bench press competitions, etc. Jason Taylor was a damn beast and won pretty much everything he was in every year.

I personally like Caldwell. I'm curious if the coordinators are more important than the HC? Part of me wonders if Parcells success was in large part due to his staff. Ditto with Dungy.
