I wonder if it haunts Harbaugh every night...waking up in a cold sweat...realizing he'd have 2 Super Bowl wins if he had just stuck with Alex Smith.

Been hearing so much talk on sports radio from the hosts & callers that the Patriots need to draft a tight end.

Couple things on that:

1. What is a "tight end" in 2014? Aaron Hernandez got a X million Y year contract titled as a tight end, but clearly played a wide receiving style. Jimmy Graham, Rob Gronkowki, Julius Thomas can block. However, they aren't the best in their position because of their blocking skills.

"Tight end".... big ass wide receiver? A guy that can run a seam route and get up high? Plexico Burress can do that too. So can Megatron.

2. Dan Connolly and Ryan Wendell have played terribly since about halfway through the season into the playoffs.

Tom Brady is like 36 years old, not exactly a stout guy, and is going to get killed if he has to endure another high-sack season. He's also going to probably not play well since pressure is his kryptonite.

3. Since when is drafting a skill position a sure thing? If they were to draft Eric Ebron in the 1st round.. and that dude doesn't come in and catch 40-50 balls that's an absolute fucking waste.

I vote sure-up the OL. Get me a pass rusher then hit the 4th+ rounds for a TE.

You really think 3000 passing yards is good in today's nfl? His TD/int and running are why he's mediocre and not "bad". If he didn't have one of the best defenses in the league he wouldn't even be starting.

49ers are definitely my most hated team, but I don't take that into account when considering their actual ability.
Take a good, hard, long look at the current Super Bowl Champions. Look at how that team is built, look at how they call plays on offense, look at how often they pass the ball, look at how many passing yards they rack up. Now think about how badly they just dominated the "super duper stats" QB. Look at how they were the preseason favorite and pretty much maintained that status all the way through the season. Look at how thoroughly they dominated and now try to tell me how a 3000 passing yard QB doesn't work in todays NFL.

You're saying Kaep is an elite qb because The Seahawks beat the Broncos? Or that Russell Wilson is the reason the Seahawks are a good team and therefore Kaepernick is elite?

This is why people hate 49er fans.

No one here said Kaepernick is elite. That's why the NFL threads on this site are borderline unreadable now. Because this past season there was an influx of shit posters that just throw out comments out of nowhere and pretend the 49ers fans here are saying them. Pretty much everyone I've read from that's a 49ers fans is pretty level headed here, but again, you guys throw out completely random shit and pretend a Niners fan here said it.

Disp. Ambiturner is the Astr0 of the Sports forums. It's much easier to tolerate him once you realize that.

Kaepernick is Wilson. They're almost the exact same QB. Great arm and can put it on a rope, but terrible awareness and basically don't go through progressions. It's uncommon for either of them to get to their 2nd read, and a damn miracle if they make it to the 3rd. They can also both take off and burn the opposing team with ease. But they don't need to because they have excellent offensive lines and strong running games to lean on. So they are rarely asked for anything more than a 150-200 yard game as long as they can avoid turning the ball over.

And, most importantly, absolutely dominating defenses.

Put either QB on a team with a bottom half defense and shit special teams (I mean seriously, Seawhawks allowed less return yards all season than most teams do in a half) and they're RG3. Great athletes, but giant question marks. If any of them learn to actually control a game, they'll dominate for a while.

You implied a 3,000 yard a year QB doesn't work. I showed you an easy, recent example of why you are wrong.

I never implied that. It definitely works if you have a dominating defense, just like the 49ers and Seahawks. All I actually said was that it makes you a mediocre passer to put up 3000 yards. Then a couple pages of crying from Disp on how I'm a troll and he misses the good old days when people didn't say mean things

San Francisco was 7th in yards per passing attempt. They just don't have as many attempts as other teams because they don't need them. You are stupid.

Ok that settles it. Even though every non 49er fan has pretty much agreed with me, the fact that they are above average on a single passing stat means Kaep's awesome. Glad we can move on now

Kaeperbro is mediocre and Ambiturner is an idiot, you're both right.
I hate to count Daezuel, because it's Daezuel and it actually hurts my case. But he did agree

It amazes me the amount of arguing there is over Kaepernick. He is, at this point in his career, a total question mark. He has had some flashes of brilliance, and some absolutely horrible moments. The amount of praise and pressure heaped on him after he did so well once he took over was ridiculous, and there was very little chance he could live up to those expectations. There is no way anyone, outside of maybe the 49ers organization, that is going to claim he is a great QB at this point in time. Could he potentially be great? Maybe, we won't know for a bit still. I think there is a very real chance he ends up being a subpar QB that only hangs around due to his athletic ability.

I would still call him better than mediocre, and that is only because of his ability to run the ball and keep drives going that way. If you want to base it totally on his passing ability, mediocre at best is an absolutely fair assessment. I find it funny how passionate people are about the guy one way or the other.

Being a 49er fan I hope that he becomes great. But the reality is that I have zero faith in him right now as the guy to lead the 49ers to the Super Bowl.

Semi joke post, but I'm going to count it

I guess none of these happened? Really amazed at the amount of salty tears me calling Kaepernick mediocre has brought out of a lot of you. Grow some balls for god's sake

Wow after having gone back to see my actual post, this is what Disp can't stop crying about?

I hate Kaep with a passion and think he's mediocre at best and the weakest link on the team, but going to 1 Superbowl and 1 NFC championship in his 2 years is pretty good
I'm actually giving him credit there. If you're raging so hard over that, you have some mental health issues

Just like to jump in here and say that, as a Rams fan, I really don't need to be defending the fucking 49ers or their fans. So Ambiturner, dude, you need to just stfu already. No one agrees with you.

There has been a fair amount of shitposting and butthurting on the topic of Colin Kaepernick this season. Like it's not harmless trolling/good humor like what we have with guys like Romo and Cutler. Whether or not it's the 49ers fans having some kind of psychosis left over from the Alex Smith years (most of which was organizational dumpster firing more than him, btw) and have problems watching him play decent ball somewhere else..I dunno.

Can someone explain why this Sam deal is the overwhelming story of the NFL right now?

Wasn't there some openly gay kicker last year that was trying to get on a roster? Why's everyone going nuts just because this guyshould, as opposed tocould, get drafted?

I'm confused.

The kicker wasn't gay, he just very vocal about gay rights and believes that's why he was released. Plus he's a kicker so he doesn't really count as a player anyways. Also got a lot of time between now and the draft with not much happening. That's why a guy's non-existent girlfriend was the top story last year
