Dallas is going to lose next week, entirely due to the injuries they have. With all of their horses in the stable? Eagles get worked. Hell, they still might since the Dallas D is a lot more competent than that of the Falcons. Chip is going to have to start taking a more balanced approach if he wants to coach long term. You can't plan your entire game around outscoring the other team, especially with Captain Glass Jaw Checkdown as your starting QB. Believe me, as a Packers fan I know this to be true and we had Rogers in seasons where our D was criminally neglected. Luckily, they get to play both the South divisions this year, in addition to four games against the Gmen and Deadskins, so odds are they will at least reach 500 and maybe sneak in to the playoffs.
Vikings, oh my god, I thought they were going to be our hardest competition in the NFC North, but they have systemic problems on both sides of the ball. Until that line actually heals up, they should feed Old Nut Duster the ball and get their money's worth out of him. People have tape on Bridgewater and the line is non existent, so trying to make him replicate the tail end of last season is going to get him killed. And the Defense, holy shit, I don't even know if that is fixable. That secondary is going to get lit up week in and week out unless they start getting some decent play out of their corners.
Falcons looked decent, but no clue if that's just because LOL Eagles or if they actually improved on D. Maybe a little of both? I see them competing with the Panthers for the coveted 8-8 division winning record in the NFC South, but probably not winning it. Last night's game may be huge down the road if they get into WC tie breakers with the Eagles, however. They do seem to be one of the most balanced teams, if not great. No huge strengths, but no big weaknesses either. Well, aside from a complete lack of underneath coverage.
Actually a fairly good week one, with not many blowouts and only two completely unwatchable games. My biggest takeaway is that while the Fins and Jets have some serious question marks, the AFC East is the strongest division in football right now. The Asterisks are going to have to cheat even more to get their free wins this year. I like my teams chances, but even with the Roidhawks getting trolled by the Rams (again), I don't think we make it past them, especially without Jordy. If they stop playing down to shitty teams, this might be the Cowboys year after all.
