Ryan Tannehill is plenty good enough. If Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson can win SBs, Tannehill certainly can. They just need to go all in on defense and build around Suh.
Come on now. This isn't what I meant and you know it. Yes, out of the 49 Super Bowls we've had two of them won by below average QBs. That does not mean that because of these two outliers, NFL teams should just move forward with whatever dumpster fire situation they have in the pocket.

I think Tannehill is probably in that top ~12 or whatever group of QBs you would consider good enough to lead a winning team. Great NFL QBs don't come around often enough to bank on waiting. Once you have one of these "good enough" guys you just kind of have to deal with him.

Tannehill is good enough to get in the playoffs with top coaching and LOTS of help. He's not great though and probably never will be.

Team ran all over the place last week and he had 86 yards. Let's get real here. Against the worst pass defense in the league...he gets less than 240. Sure, the team sucks ass in just about all phases but he was 8th overall in his draft and just got a giant paycheck. Maybe his ass needs to star performing a bit better instead of blaming everyone else because 'average QBs can still get it done'. Even Campbell said he didn't expect Tanny to carry them...because he can't and that's an issue. Guy needs close to 50 attempts just to get 300 yards. Not a problem my ass. Maybe not THE PROBLEM but definitely a problem.

Y'all 'bout to see the next Brady on Sunday in Santa Clara. I'm glad I'll be there in-person to witness the beginning of an era.

Be sure and wear some protective clothing. A suit of armor or something similar maybe.

Also, giving up on the Red Rocket so soon?

Dilfer in his one year at Baltimore had the advantage of an Awesome Running Game and a Defense that let him just hand off the ball and only have to throw a pass15times a game on average.. (nfl.com has him at 226 pass attempts for the regular season) (8.4 catches per game average)

Dilfer in 2000 in the playoffs - 147 YPG average and won the superbowl by 4 touchdowns...
during the Regular Season -136.7YPG average

if a QB in 2015 averaged that amount of ypg and started EVERY GAME-- we'd expect said team to suck.

I don't know. I think Tannehill is probably about as good as say, Flacco. To say that Dilfer and Johnson are the only "not great" QB's to win a Super Bowl is a bit disingenuous. Matt Ryan and Andy Dalton are probably also good enough to win a Super Bowl, and I'd say they're all close to the same talent level. Throw in Eli as well. Shit, Eli is probably worse than all of them, but he's got a damn horseshoe up his ass.

The passing game has changed since Dilfer and Johnson rode outstanding defenses to titles. I would say you have to be a bit above average to pull it out these days. Which both Eli and Flacco managed on their runs.

Tannehill is good enough to win a SB. And Slaythe there are far more than 2 average QBs who have won SBs. Phil Simms wasnt some world beater, neither was Jeff fucking Hostetler who came in for him. Doug Williams, blah blah blah.

Dont turn the ball over, convert some 3rd downs when you need to, run the ball and play defense.

Is Russel Wilson some superstar? No, hes not. Hes good, but not great (not yet anyways) but has all the things above. Not a hard formula tbh

in which facet of the game will he cheat though? be more specific
We were hoping you would inform us of that.

Elurin, I agree completely. Flacco, Ryan, and many others are average QBs but that's thankfully all we need today in the NFL (in the right circumstances). Unfortunately, the Dolphins have a shitty defense too and coaches who hate the running game. So shit from top to bottom won't help that young man.

Sorry Bullshit bro.

Russel Wilson is averaging fucking 217 ypg for his career....yes say that as many times as you need to in your head.......and already has 2 SB trips and 1 win (should be 2).

He has a running game and very good defense, has a high td-int ratio with a shitty passing offense and no receivers to speak of. You can win multiple ways.

Fair enough. Still, even the year they won the SB he still threw for ~3,300 yards. Dilfer, in his winning season, threw for 1500 yards. He had a 76 passer rating. That would not get you anywhere these days.

No. This is just some wishful thinking here. Dalton has proved himself enough this year to not drop him in the offseason. His contract is structured to be very team friendly if we drop him after this season. But he's been the best offensive player in the vast majority of Bengals games this year. Everyone kept waiting for "Bad Andy" to show up but he never really did. Sure, the first Steelers game wasn't that great but he was still better than Big Ben and made the plays in crunch time to win. I think he can be the Bengals QB going forward.

How dare you besmirch the name Doug Williams. Dude is in 2 ring of honors. Played the best quarter in SB history.

But I agree there are many ways to win nowadays.

Ehh. Tannehill's ceiling may be GOOD Matt Ryan. (WTF happened to him by the way)

So I tried really hard to convince myself OBJ was all hype. I just don't want nice things to happen to the Giants. I have failed, not only is he legit, he is at least as good as any other receiver in the league. A couple weeks ago Mike Francessa called him the "best receiver on the planet", and I scoffed listing 3 or 4 names in my head. After Monday nights game, I don't know. AB and him are about equal, with OBJ having a much bigger upside. He is on pace to destroy the records and its only his second year.

My only consolation is that his play is driving his price up so much that when his rookie contract is up in 2 years the Giants wont be able to afford him (He is on a 4 year 10m contract right now. Consider that Megatron is making 16m a year. OBJ will easily command those type of numbers and ever putting the Franchise tag on him will be massive cap hit for the Giants, hopefully enough to mire them in mediocrity)

I'd never be paying OBJ QB type of money--and the Giants would be dumb if they do. Take Calvin Johnsons contract-- it is fucking ABSURD, and hes not even remotely close to making the kind of impact he would need to be making to demand that kind of money. He makes as much as most QBs do......its fucking ridiculous the Lions paid him that kind of cash. ODB jr will be wanting that kind of payday.

Its just stupid and franchise killing. You have 100+ million dollars tied up in a guy who doesnt directly affect the outcome of every play and is not even involved in every snap--which is why smart money is going to either the QB himself or the guy getting paid to kill the opposing one--they have the chance to directly affect every snap while on the field. Antonio Brown makes HALF what Calvin does, its fucking hilarious. And that's the most the Steelers will put into a wideout because they know they can find them in later rounds. Wheaton 3rd, Brown 6th, Bryant 4th--if you know wtf you're doing in the draft, you dont go there.
