Since the NFL expanded to a 12 team playoff format in 1990, only 23 teams of 204 to start 0-2 (11.2 percent) have overcome the winless start to make the postseason.
The recent numbers are even worse, as mentioned above: Since 2009, the only two teams to start 0-2 and make the playoffs were Carolina in 2013 and Indianapolis in 2014 have made the playoffs. To put it into third-grade mathematical terms, over the past six seasons you have a 4% chance of making the playoffs if you're winless headed into Week 3.
