I would not assume Bree's is going to restructure since he has been resistant to that in the past.

The good ole days of Who Dat Nation. Watching a lot of illiterate hillbillies shoot up their government handout TVs as they cheered on their first taste of relevance outside of Mardi Gras. As some form of mismanagement or another slowly wrecks the best years of Brees and possibly Payton after it started so well. This almost brings a tear to my eye as Newton slowly makes them his bitch.

I had a similar reaction to the other 49er fans in this thread when I heard about the Chip Kelly hiring, but here's me trying to be optimistic.

1) There isn't anyone obviously better available.

2) If anyone can reform Kaepernick it's Kelly and there's no obvious blue-chip QB in the draft so at least we can avoid hitching our wagon to the star of a mediocre talent for the next 3-5 years just because we have a high pick.

3) It's an open question whether Kelly's failure in Philly was because of other teams figuring out how to counter his system or his ridiculous personnel decisions. If Baalke is still here then he won't have much control over personnel decisions so we can rule out one possibility and see if it was the other.

4) Most of the really good coaches in the NFL got fired from their first job, so maybe he has learned from his mistakes in Philly (might be wishful thinking here).

5) If the 49ers shit the bed again next year we might get rid of both Kelly and Baalke and be able to draft a good QB with our next high pick.

6) Whatever happens it will be entertaining and at least the 49ers will get mentioned regularly on television even if it's only for people to mock them.

There's your irrational fan optimism for the day.

Brutal,

That's pretty damn good. I was disappointed they hired Chip just because they probably wont go QB now but Baalke isn't the greatest drafter so who knows.

I still think they and others lost out on Hue. It won't take long to see if Im right either.

I have read a couple articles that essentially give polar opposite views. I see the potential, but the cynic in me just refuses to believe he is actually going to do much good.

I feel like it is going to be an experiment gone bad, and we will suffer several more years because of it.

The Bengals have lost every single defensive position coach. Only Guenther, the DC, remains. WTF.

LOL...Chip picked the worst team in the toughest division. Good Luck with that 49ers.
Picked implies choice. I don't remember loads of teams knocking on his door and several candidates lately have turned down the SF job. I think this or college was his choice.

Next stop on the chip Kelly train San Francisco with a brief stay and continuing on to baton rouge for his college return.

With the yourteamspick in the 2016 draft, yourteam selects ___________ ?

Gonna go with S'ua Cravens, safety, USC for Pittsburgh.

We had pretty good luck with our last one from there.

Thinking Bengals likely for a WR or S. I doubt the Bengals will keep both Sanu and Jones.

Man, I remember all these SEC fans like Gilg talking up how great Jarvis Jones would be.

What a turd. 2 sacks in 15 games started and 5 in three years in a defense built to get that position sacks....can we send him back to UGA for that pick back? Maybe we will hit on one of these pass rushers. Most overrated defensive player I can remember

I see our pick being Hargreaves unless Tunsil drops somehow.
Both players would be fantastic, no way Tunsil drops tho. Given that the Titans have Mariota I cant even see him fall to 2nd, and no way he falls past San Diego.

Niners need help at WR, probably O-line although they have improved a lot through the course of the season. I really think they should probably trade down and try to pick up a couple extra picks. One of the best things the niners had going for them in the Harbaugh era was depth and this year made it pretty clear that it's still important. I really hope Carlos Hyde makes a full recovery.

It's too bad Boldin will probably be retired and Bowman will be old before the 49ers are good again.
